With the cut-off date for completing the mandatory medical internship being extended to June 30, medical aspirants feel that the NEET PG 2023 exam date should also be postponed by around 6-8 weeks. The National Board of Examinations ( NBE) has fixed the exam date for March 5 and the results would be out by March 31. But unless the candidates complete their one-year internship by June, they will not be allowed for the medical counselling process which may be held in July. Medical experts and counsellors have been supporting the postponement of the exam till May, pointing out that it would help candidates prepare better for their exams. Dr Garima Garg (22), NEET PG 2023 aspirant who is interning at the Lokmanya Municipal Medical College, Mumbai says, “Since there will be a delay in the counselling and the admission process, why can’t we take the exams at a later date? It would help us to handle our internship duties better, and with much less stress, rather than rushing through an exam which would leave us with little time to prepare.” Garima’s internship is expected to get over on May 22, and there will be a long gap between the commencement of the exam in March and her internship completion date.
