Wimbledon 2022 results: Elena Rybakina beats Ons Jabeur to secure first Grand Slam title

ALL ENGLAND CLUB, LONDON — Elena Rybakina is the newest name on theVenus Rosewater Dish after she came from a set down to beat world No.2 Ons Jabeur to win Wimbledon and her first Grand Slam title. The Russian-born world No.23, who has represented Kazakhstan since 2018, put on a serving masterclass and used her big-hitting power to down her Tunisian opponent 3-6 6-2 6-2 This was a first Grand Slam final for both players but Rybakina, who looked nervous in the opening set, found her rhythm in the latter stages to go on andbecome her country's first player to win a major singles trophy. Rybakina's historic victory for Kazakhstan comes after the All England Club's decision to ban Russian players from the tournament amid the invasion of Ukraine. The new champion was born in Moscow and her parents still live there. Politics and her decision to switch allegiances will matter little to the 6ft ace queen right now though after she became the first woman to come back from a set down in the Wimbledon final since Amelie Mauresmo in 2006. Elena Rybakina reacts to Wimbledon title "I was super nervous before the match, during the match and I'm happy it's finished, to be honest. Really I have never felt something like this. I want to thank the crowd for the support, it was unbelievable these two weeks," the 23-year-old said. "But also I want to congratulate Ons for a great match and everything you have achieved. I think you are an inspiration for everybody. You have an amazing game. We d...

The Djokovic vs Norrie live stream should start at around 3.20 p.m. BST / 10.20 a.m. ET / 7.20 a.m. PT today (Friday, July 8). ► FREE LIVE STREAM — ► U.S. — ESPN via ► Watch anywhere— Try With Rafael Nadal having to pull out of today's other semi-final — handing Kyrgios a walkover — the winner here will fancy their chances of taking the Wimbledon 2022 title. That's not to diminish Kyrgios' abilities, because he's a very good player — but he's not won 22 Grand Slams as Nadal has. What's more, he's won the past three tournaments, going back to 2018, and has now won 26 straight matches at the All England Club. That's some record. Norrie doesn't have the same kind of pedigree (yet), but his world ranking of 12 shows he's at least in with a chance here. Then again, this is his first ever Wimbledon semi-final, so much will depend on how he deals with the occasion. The players are on the court now, so it should get started at around 3.20 p.m. BST / 10.20 a.m. ET. Will Djokovic make it through to another Wimbledon final?
