President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path, which was followed by the national anthem and 21-gun salute. The parade started with Parade Commander, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, a recipient of Ati Vishisth Seva Medal, marching down the Kartavya Path, followed by the Parade Second-in-Command, Major General Bhavnish Kumar. Tribune News Service New Delhi, January 30 The Punjab Regiment has been adjudged as the ‘best’ marching contingent among the three services at the Republic day Parade while the Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) was named as best among CAPF and other auxiliary forces. The Ministry of Defence today announced the awards of the best marching contingents and tableaux of Republic Day Parade 2023. Three separate panels of judges were appointed for assessing the performance of marching contingents. A panel of experts looked at the three Services, another one was for judging Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) other auxiliary forces and a third panel was adjudicating on the tableaux from various States, Union Territories and Ministries. Among the tableaux of the states the first three winners are Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Among the Tableaux of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Central Public Works Department have won. Among the cultural troupes the ‘Vande Bharatam’ Dance Group has emerged as winner. In addition to the panel of judges, a web page was created on MyGov platform for online registration of citizens for watching the Republic Day Parade. Uttarakhand's tableau showcased the state's wildlife and religious sites during the ceremonial parade at Kartavya Path on January 26. In the foreground of the tableau, reindeer, deer and various birds were shown roaming in the world-famous Corbett National Park. Republic Day Live Updates: President Droupadi Murmu commenced the celebrations of the 74th Republic Day on Thursday. A multi-layer security cover is in place for the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi with police conducting anti-sabotage checks, verification drives and patrolling to thwart any untoward incident. President Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path which was followed by the national anthem and a customary 21 Gun Salute. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid solemn tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. Marching contingents of forces, BrahMos missile and battle tanks displayed India's military might during the parade at the Kartavya Path. For the first time, Kartavya Path witnessed the 21-gun salute given to President Droupadi Murmu during the parade with 105mm Indian field guns, replacing the British-made 25-pounder guns. Also, the marching contingent consists of three women and six Agniveers. In a first, a military contingent of the Egyptian Army also marched at the R-day parade today. The Egyptian military contingent has 144 personnel participating in the parade.
