Wish Upon A Quilt (Raleigh)

I’ve been sewing for over 40 years, and when my Bernina turned 30, I decided to try a Janome. My sister had just purchased one in her hometown, and she sold me. I went to one of the WUAQ demos of new machines and ended up purchasing both a sewing machine and an embrodery machine. To clarify, I love the Janome product. The service after the sale at the store is a “one star” rating. Having experienced the exceptional followup at the Bernina store, that’s what I expected for the amount I spent. There is very little in the way of new owner classes, so if you are out of town or working, too bad. I signed up for an embroidery class (at my expense) to try and get some help, and never got a copy of the class supply list. When I arrived at class, I was told that I could purchase whatever I needed that day (again, at my expense). No customer service after the sale, very little in the way of actual training in how to use these expensive and complicated machines - so guess what? I went to Bernina’s embroidery club monthly meetings, and they helped me. Guess I went to the wrong Janome dealer. And yes, I know I’m going to get the standard response on how WUAQ is voted the #1 fabric store. Just keep that in mind if you are planning to purchase a machine. You’re on your own after that. Hi Susan, I'm sorry that you have not received the after the sale support that you are expecting. We offer Free new owner classes for both our sewing and embroidery machines that will teach you how to opera...

'When You Wish Upon a Star': The Story Behind The Disney Classic

When you think of classic Disney songs, chances are “When You Wish Upon a Star” is in the top tier. The famous tune was written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for the 1940 Disney animated film Pinocchio. The initial recording was performed by Cliff Edwards, who voiced Jiminy Cricket in the movie. But the legacy of the song is almost impossible to measure. Disney has used the song throughout the company’s history. You can hear it in the opening credits to their films. It was also used in the opening sequence of the Walt Disney anthology television series in the 1950s and 60s. Today, Disney theme parks all over the globe use the song in parades, firework shows, and special events. Even Disney Cruise Line ships use the first seven notes of the song as their signal horns. It truly has become Disney’s unofficial theme song. Listen to “When You Wish Upon a Star” on The song itself is a relatively simple tune, paying homage to the famous idiom where a child makes a wish on the first shooting star that they see at night. In Pinocchio, the song brings to life the story of the wooden toy puppet who dreamed of being a real boy. But the message behind it can relate to just about anyone: “When you wish upon a star/Makes no difference who you are/Anything your heart desires/Will come to you.” Pinocchio was just the second Disney animated feature film. Unexpectedly, however, it didn’t do well at the box office. (Some blame the lack of European distribution, due to the Second World W...
