We have already looked at a number of solid home security camera solutions but most of these are dominated by one company, Xiaomi. You might want to check out our coverage of the Read More: Read More: • • Night sight The Mi 360 2K Pro comes with the ability to see in the dark…literally. When the light is low, the camera switches to an Infrared camera that allows you to see in through the veil of darkness. Of course, the resolution isn’t as crisp as we’d have hoped but it works well enough. Below is a side-by-side comparison of the camera view with the security lights turned on and the save view in pitch darkness. Tracking The camera swivels around, hence the 360 in the name, and in the app, you can set the camera to track people as soon as they come into frame. In the testing, the tracking worked pretty well for the most part but sometimes it would be a little erratic, especially in cases where multiple persons are in the frame. The app also allows you to set notifications for when the camera detects movement or a person. These notifications can be many on busy days but I found the scheduling feature super handy. Essentially, I set the camera to send me notifications of Persons in the frame or movement detection between 8pm and 6 am. This ...

Mi Home Security Camera 360° 2K Review: A cheap way to see everywhere

Verdict Extremely cheap, the Mi Home Security Camera 360° 2K has a lot of features for the price. It’s the motorised pan and tilt that really stand out, letting this camera take in a full 360-degree view of a room. Motion detection is a little weak and there are better security cameras out there, making this a better choice for manual monitoring. Introduction Most security cameras are locked in position, forever staring at the same location. I’ve seen a few more pan and tilt cameras recently that let you move the field of view. The Mi Home Security Camera 360° is another budget model, capable of a full 360-degree view. With offline recording via the Micro SD card slot, you get subscription-free video storage, avoiding ongoing costs. Motion control is quite basic and, once again, this camera has no ‘home’ position so you have to remember to focus it manually on the area that you’re interested in. Despite shooting 2K resolution videos, the end results are a little soft and I’ve seen better 1080p cameras. Design and installation • Micro SD card slot • Can be wall or bookshelf mounted With its smooth white plastic body, the bulbous Mi Home Security Camera 360° looks quite neat. It can be installed on a bookshelf, although there’s also a screw-in ceiling mount for this one. As you can move the lens horizontally and vertically in the app, you don’t have to be quite as thoughtful about where you place this camera compared to a regular security camera, as you can also adjust the v...

Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 1080p review

The Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 1080p records clear Full HD footage and can use ambient light to provide color video in low-light situations. Extremely affordable and easy to use, the inclusion of a microSD card slot means you don’t need to pay for a subscription service to review recorded footage at a later date. However, it isn’t the most stylish-looking device, and since it is mains-powered, it’s less flexible when it comes to placement than other models on the market. The Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 1080p is the company’s latest The compact monochrome device is simple to use and will push out a notification to your smartphone if it detects motion in your home. From there you can log in to view the camera’s live feed, using the on-screen cursor to remotely adjust the angle of the lens. It also supports a microSD card up to 32GB in capacity, so footage recorded by the camera can be stored and reviewed at a later date without the need to pay for a subscription service. The Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 1080p can be used freestanding, although the rotating base can also be mounted to the ceiling, with the option to invert the image in the app. The footage recorded during the day is in color, and if there’s enough ambient light in the room, it will be color in low-light situations, too. There is a built-in microphone and speaker, enabling you to converse with anyone in the camera’s field of view. Plus, the camera also integrates with Alexa and Google Assi...
