Sanskrit Shlokas

गच्छन् पिपिलिको याति योजनानां शतान्यपि । अगच्छन् वैनतेयः पदमेकं न गच्छति ॥ भावार्थ : लगातार चल रही चींटी सैकड़ों योजनों की दूरी तय कर लेती है, परंतु न चल रहा गरुड़ एक कदम आगे नहीं बढ़ पाता है । अतीतानागता भावा ये च वर्तन्ति साम्प्रतम् । तान् कालनिर्मितान् बुध्वा न संज्ञां हातुमर्हसि ॥ भावार्थ : सृष्टि में जो भी पदार्थ पूर्व में थे, भविष्य में होंगे और वर्तमान में हैं, वे सब काल द्वारा निर्मित हैं इस तथ्य को समझते हुए तुम्हें (श्रोता) अपना संज्ञान-सामर्थ्य अथवा विवेक नहीं खोना चाहिए । संयोजयति विद्यैव नीचगापि नरं सरित् । समुद्रमिव दुर्धर्षं नृपं भाग्यमतः परम्॥ भावार्थ : जिस प्रकार नीचे की ओर बहती नदी अपने साथ तृण आदि जैसे तुच्छ पदार्थों को समुद्र से जा मिलाती है, ठीक वैसे ही विद्या ही अधम मनुष्य को राजा से मिलाती है और उससे ही उसका भाग्योदय होता है । विद्या शस्त्रस्य शास्त्रस्य द्वे विद्ये प्रतिपत्तये । आद्या हास्याय वृद्धत्वे द्वितियाद्रियते सदा॥ भावार्थ : शस्त्र-विद्या एवं शास्त्र-विद्या यानी ज्ञानार्जन, दोनों ही मनुष्य को सम्मान दिलवाती हैं । किंतु वृद्धावस्था प्राप्त होने पर इनमें से प्रथम यानी शास्त्र-विद्या उसे उपहास का पात्र बना देती है, जब उस विद्या का प्रदर्शन करने की उसकी शारीरिक क्षमता समाप्तप्राय हो जाती है । लेकिन शास्त्र-ज्ञान सदा ही उसे आदर का पात्र बनाये रखती है । अजरामरवत् प्राज्ञो विद्यामर्थं च चिन्तयेत् । गृहीत इव केशेषु मृत्युना धर्ममाचरेत् ॥ भावार्थ : सूझबूझ वाला मनुष्य विद्या एवं धन अर्जित करने का विचार यूं करे जैसे कि वह बुढ़ापे और मृत्यु से मुक्त हो । किंतु साथ में धर्माचरण भी यूं करे जैसे कि काल उसके बाल पकड़कर बैठा हो और कभी भी उसे इहलोक से उठा सकता हो ...

The word sṛjāmi is significant herein. Sṛjāmi cannot be used in the sense of creation, because, according to the previous verse, there is no creation of the Lord’s form or body, since all of the forms are eternally existent. Therefore, sṛjāmi means that the Lord manifests Himself as He is. Although the Lord appears on schedule, namely at the end of the Dvāpara-yuga of the twenty-eighth millennium of the seventh Manu in one day of Brahmā, He has no obligation to adhere to such rules and regulations, because He is completely free to act in many ways at His will. He therefore appears by His own will whenever there is a predominance of irreligiosity and a disappearance of true religion. Principles of religion are laid down in the Vedas, and any discrepancy in the matter of properly executing the rules of the Vedas makes one irreligious. In the Bhāgavatam it is stated that such principles are the laws of the Lord. Only the Lord can manufacture a system of religion. The Vedas are also accepted as originally spoken by the Lord Himself to Brahmā, from within his heart. Therefore, the principles of dharma, or religion, are the direct orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead ( dharmaṁ tu sākṣād bhagavat-praṇītam). These principles are clearly indicated throughout the Vedas is to establish such principles under the order of the Supreme Lord, and the Lord directly orders, at the end of the Gītā, that the highest principle of religion is to surrender unto Him only, and nothing more...
