Aditya Thackeray breaks his silence on Sushant Singh Rajput case, alleges ‘dirty politics’; says he ‘won’t get involved’

While calling the actor's demise "unfortunate and shocking," Aditya also came down heavily on those “using” this scenario to gain political mileage, saying, “Using someone’s death for political gains is inhumane.” He also said, "Cine industry aka Bollywood is an important part of Mumbai" and noted that a lot of people are "dependent on it.” Aditya even admitted that he shares a good bond with many Bollywood actors, which he pointed out, "is not a crime.”

Aditya Thackeray responds to allegations that he 'called Rhea Chakraborty 44 times' during Sushant Singh Rajput death probe

In a new twist to the case surrounding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde's MP Rahul Shewale raised allegations in the Lok Sabha, saying, "Rhea Charkroborty received 44 calls from AU. Bihar Police says AU means Aditya Uddhav Thackeray, What is the status of CBI probe?" Shinde camp MP seeks status of CBI probe in SSR case NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (Shinde group) on Wednesday raised the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the Lok Sabha, seeking to know the status of the CBI probe and also about the possible involvement of influential people, including a senior figure in the rival alliance Maha Vikas As per a Times Now report, Aditya reacted to the allegations saying, "I will only say, love you more." Calling the allegations nothing more than a 'diversion', he said, "This from those who are not loyal at home, in his party, we do not expect anything from such a person. They are bringing up these issues to divert our attack on CM Eknath Shinde's land scam or insults of our state icons." The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court last week ordered status quo on the decision taken by Shinde, when he was the urban development minister in the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, over the allotment of land meant for slum dwellers to private persons. Opposition seeks Eknath Shinde’s ouster for allotting Rs 83 crore Nagpur land for Rs 2 crore The opposition on Tuesday demanded resignation of chief ministe...

Udhayanidhi to Aaditya Thackeray — here’s a look at the ‘son rise’ in India's new politics

New Delhi: Last week, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inducted his son Udhayanidhi into the state cabinet — a move that drew criticism from opposition parties such as the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).  Udhayanidhi, however, isn’t the first of the family to be inducted into the state cabinet — his father, DMK chief Stalin, was inducted into the state cabinet for the first time in 2006 by his father, the late M Karunanidhi. Experts believe that this is a “relatively new trend” seen over the last few decades and indicates a “decaying” of political parties. “In a democracy, it’s not a very good arrangement because, as the AIADMK said, Stalin’s son immediately becomes the number two in the cabinet whether designated or not. [A] party will ultimately suffer”, says Sudha Pai, a senior political analyst, author, columnist, and a former professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), told ThePrint. Pai, however, qualified this by saying that such arrangements are not “always negative”. “It could work differently in different places (for different people),” she told ThePrint. In addition, this phenomenon of father-son duo running the government is almost exclusive to regional parties — whether it’s the induction of Shiv Sena’s Aditya Thackeray in Maharashtra or K.T. Rama Rao, son of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Here’s a look at how five other father-son duos in state cabinets have fared so far. A...

Aditya Thackeray: 24

Aditya Thackeray: ‘We are not speaking against any community. If you ask anyone, they will tell you the Thackerays love Mumbai.’ Photograph: India Today/Getty Aditya Thackeray: ‘We are not speaking against any community. If you ask anyone, they will tell you the Thackerays love Mumbai.’ Photograph: India Today/Getty H e reads histories of the British monarchy, enjoys poetry and cricket, looks forward to family holidays overseas and to, one day, taking decisions that can change millions of lives. Meet Aditya Thackeray, 24-year-old scion of India’s most controversial political dynasty. Few outside the world’s biggest democracy have heard of the Thackerays, who have dominated street politics in Mumbai, India’s commercial centre, for decades. But in their hometown, they are ubiquitous, acclaimed by some as saviours, feared and reviled by others. The portrait of the family patriarch, Bal Thackeray, a cartoonist turned rightwing populist politician who founded the Shiv Sena organisation in 1966 and led it until his death two years ago, is everywhere: hung in offices in slums, on the walls of cheap restaurants, beside temples. Images of the patriarch’s successor – his 54-year-old son Uddhav – and grandson Aditya, who heads a youth wing – are alongside. The trio look down on the teeming metropolis of 20 million-plus. But after three decades of dominance of municipal politics, the Shiv Sena is, like so much in India, in transition. “These are changing times. My grandfather’s genera...

Aaditya Thackeray Joins Bharat Jodo Yatra, Marches With Rahul Gandhi In Maharashtra

New Delhi: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray on Friday joined the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' being led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi at Kalamnuri in Maharashtra's Hingoli. The two leaders walked side by side while waving to the people lining the way. "Bharat Jodo Yatra is much more than politics, it is about the idea of India," Aaditya Thackeray told NDTV after marching for two hours. "This is for democracy, for country, this is for idea of democracy. This is what vibrant democracy is about," he added. His party colleague and the leader of the opposition in the state Legislative Council Ambadas Danve accompanied Aaditya Thackeray inj the march. Former MLA Sachin Ahir joined in too. Party Chief Uddhav Thackeray has also been invited to take part in the march during its Maharashtra leg. The cross-country foot-march has entered its 65th day. The gesture signals closeness between the two parties, with different ideologies, which agreed on a common minimum program to form the now-removed Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra. Several prominent leaders have participated in the Rahul Gandhi-led march so far. The Congress party has consistently maintained that anyone who agrees with the message of the Yatra -- to stand in solidarity with people from different communities across the country -- can join them. Rahul Gandhi has also been attacking the BJP-led state government on Maharashtra losing some big projects to other st...
