Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Specially designated (POCSO) court of District and Sessions Court, Bhopal, on Monday, has awarded triple life imprisonment to bus driver Hanumant Jathav and imprisonment of 20 years to lady bus attendant Urmila Sahu in the minor rape case of a three and half-year-old girl. The victim is a nursery standard girl who was raped in a school bus of Billabong High International School, ICSE Board, Bhopal. They were convicted on Saturday but the quantum of punishment has been decided on Monday, District Prosecution officials added. Judge Shaileja Gupta passed the order. According to public prosecution, Hanumant Jathav, 32, of Shahpura, and Urmila Sahu, 40, of Kolar, were convicted. The case was registered against Jathav under 376(ab), 376(2n), 5F/L Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act while the case under Section 109 and 16/17 of IPC was registered against Urmila Sahu on September 8, 2022. The incident took place when the child was returning home in the bus. After the girl returned home, her mother saw that someone had changed the child’s dress with the spare set of dress kept in her bag. The police commissioner had constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Additional DCP Srutkirti Somvanshi. इस घटना में स्कूल मैनेजमेंट केवल सीसीटीवी कैमरे के कारण ही जांच की जद में है। स्कूल प्रिंसिपल ने सीसीटीवी रिकॉर्डिंग दिखाने से इनकार करते हुए कहा था कि हम उसे डिलीट कर देते हैं। फिर जब मामला दर्ज हुआ तो बस को सर्विस के लिए भेज दिया गया। इन्वेस्टिगेशन कर रही पुलिस टीम का कहना है कि उन्हें बस में सीसीटीवी कैमरा तो मिला परंतु डीवीआर का बॉक्स खाली था। यानी कि बस में केवल लोगों को दिखाने के लिए कैमरा लगा था। वह काम नहीं कर रहा था। पुलिस कमिश्नर मकरंद देऊस्कर का कहना है कि स्कूल प्रबंधन के भी बयान दर्ज किए जा रहे हैं। स्कूल में सुप्रीम कोर्ट की गाइडलाइन का पालन किया जा रहा है या नहीं इसे देखा जा रहा है। जांच में यदि कोई दोषी पाया जाएगा तो उन्हें आरोपी बनाया जाएगा। आगे की जांच के लिए एसआईटी का गठित की गई है। इसमें एडिशनल डीसीपी जोन-01 श्रुतिकीर्ति सोमवंशी, एसीपी महिला सुरक्षा निधि सक्सेना, महिला थाना प्रभारी अंजना धुर्वे और जांच अधिकारी सब इंस्पेक्टर करिश्मा राजावत शामिल हैं।

The Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also taken cognizance in the matter. Brajesh Chauhan, a member of the Children's Commission, said the matter is very serious and the Commission would ask for a reply by giving notice to the school management as to why CCTV was not on the vehicle, whether the driver-conductor verification was done or not.
