Jaipur: A 51-year-old man was killed and seven of his family and relatives were critically injured when their SUV crashed into an unidentified vehicle on Jaipur-Agra national highway under the Bassi police station area in the early hours of Sunday. Bassi police station‘s assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Harikesh Singh said that the victim was identified as Mahesh Singh, a resident of Vaishali Nagar. “He was returning home with his family members from Vrindavan in Mathura,” he said. Police said that the accident occurred after 2.30am when the SUV in which Singh was travelling with some of his family and relatives hit the rear of an unidentified vehicle forcing the SUV to veer off the road and lose control. “Mahesh Singh died in the accident. Other seven passengers were transported to the trauma ward of the SMS Hospital where they are undergoing treatment,” said Harikesh. He said that the passengers were residents of Jaipur and returning after spending some time in Vrindavan in Mathura. The mishap immediately sparked a commotion on the highway even as people rushed to the cries of the victims struck inside the vehicle. The ambulance reached the scene and took the injured to the hospital. The accident disrupted traffic on the busy Jaipur-Agra highway. However, authorities called a crane machine to remove the wrecked SUV from the road following which the traffic resumed. Police said that the SUV’s front was destroyed in the accident. Rajasthan on high alert over cyclone warning

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to the people to stay cautious in wake of the Met department’s warning on Tauktae cyclone affecting some of the state districts. Met department has predicted that As expected, cyclone can also affect Jamnagar in Gujarat which is the biggest supply source of oxygen for Rajasthan. Hence, the CM in a tweet has instructed officials to make alternate emergency plan to ensure “All preparations are being made to ensure smooth disaster management in the state and I appeal to everyone to remain alert,” he added. Gehlot further said that directions have been given to install generators in hospitals so that Chief secretary Niranjan Arya has also directed all the district collectors to be vigilant and ensure all necessary preparations to ensure power supply and other emergency services. He said that all district collectors along with the superintendent of police should make a contingency plan in consultation with the CMHO and civil defence officials so that hospitals do not face any kind of problem related to Covid management. He also added that oxygen supply should be ensured in all districts and instructed officials to ensure supply and storage of oxygen. He said that if due to any kind of disaster that results in road blocks then medical supply chain should be accorded top priority and repaired immediately.

On account of the RPSC RAS Preliminary exams scheduled today, the Rajasthan Government has suspended mobile internet, bulk SMS and social media services in certain parts of the state. These services will remain suspended from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Jaipur Commissonerate Area. Meena Gives ‘evidence’ To Ed For Money Laundering Charge

Jaipur: BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena on Friday handed over some documents to Enforcement Directorate (ED) as evidence for his allegations against CM Meena also lodged a complaint with ED against the three people for allegedly carrying out benami transactions worth thousands of crores of rupees in the hotel business via funds invested from Mauritius and London. The BJP MP alleged that Narendra Singh Dhindsa, a London-based doctor, invested Rs 95 crore in Sivnar Holdings Limited created by Minerva Holding Limited, which was named in Panama Papers. Meena alleged that the doctor received black money through hawala and invested it in Sivnar Holdings Limited. Vaibhav Gehlot had on Thursday rubbished the the allegations as “baseless”. He said the money was later invested as white money by Sivnar in Fairmont Hotel in Jaipur, allegedly linked to Vaibhav Gehlot. Meena alleged that the doctor, who is a resident of Church Road in London, showed false sales of Capry hospitality business. “However, the black money was sent by Vaibhav Gehlot and invested as white money back in Fairmont,” he alleged. The BJP MP had held a press conference on Thursday and levelled allegations against the CM’s family. UNFPA signs pact with Jaipur university on population dynamics

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jaipur, to integrate population dynamics and gender concerns into the curriculum, which will facilitate a deeper understanding of the global challenges on these issues. The MoU will also strengthen the agenda of Sustainable Development Goals in Rajasthan. UNFPA India Representative Andrea Wojnar and the university’s Vice-Chancellor Sudhi Rajiv signed the MoU at a ceremony organised at Dr. Radhakrishnan Shiksha Sankul here on Monday. The key areas of cooperation outlined in the MoU included capacity building of media students and young journalists, developing the learning resources, collaboration on research projects and expanding the scope for collating the social development data. ‘Innovative step’ Ms. Wojnar said the pact would help cultivate a “more informed and inclusive” cohort capable of challenging societal norms and bringing the marginalised voices to the mainstream. “Integrating gender issues in the curriculum will be an innovative step which will influence the policymakers and speed up the process of change in the society,” she said. Prof. Rajiv said the MoU would encourage debate on the population issues and help achieve the goals of demographic resilience.
