Akkalkot Nivasi Sri Swami Samarth Maharaj had initiated a number of devotees and made them disciples. Out of these known-unknown numerous disciples, the primary disciples who got the blessing-symbol from Sri Swamiji returned to their own places and fluttered the banner representing devotional loyalty to Sri Swamiji. They are as follows. Swamisut In Itiya village belonging to Ratnagiri District Swamisut was born to the ‘Khot’ family. His name was Hanbhau Tawade Khot. It was a prosperous house. For his education he came to Mumbai. After finishing his education he joined the Mumbai Municipality for employment. Gajanan Khatri was his co-worker at the time. Both joined hands and started doing some speculation in the opium business. They suffered heavy losses. They got into heavy debts. Hence both of them went to Laxman Pandit whom they knew. Laxman Pandit was a family priest of Govindrao’s house. Govindrao was the same person whose cook Kanojia Brahmin, by the kind favour of Sri Swami Samarth, had unexpectedly received Rupees ten thousand as charitable donation from the Sethani (Govindrao’s wife). Laxman Pandit was also in debt. When he heard the surprising story about Kanojia Brahmin he took a vow to come to Akkalkot for Sri Swamiji’s ‘Darshan’ if his burden of debt gets cleared within eight days. By this time both, Haribhau and Khatri had reached Laxman Pandit’s residence and requested him that, if he stood as a guarantor for their loan debt then he would be able to get equal...

Great temple. Always teeming with devotees. Very near to Solapur. Can stay there and visit Akkalkot Swami Samarth temple. Can complete within half a day. Little disorganised but can have the darshan of the swami without hassles. The employees are tough but adjustable. Although crowded, the darshan can be had in a few minutes. Go other than Thursdays and holidays. Mobile phones and belongings can be carried all the way till the end. There is a footwear counter. Nice parking, and small eateries dot the temple. Beggars can pester you, but they are not bad. Must visit. Swamy Samarth a great philosophical mentor, divine master, guru and Saint, lived here few centuries back and done years of meditation under a Banyan tree adjacent to which he was cremated after his passed away. This place will be worshipping as most holy place and devotees believe strongly that their prayers in front of Swamy Samartha's temple abode will be fulfilled by Swamy's spiritual soul power. Beautiful arrangements by temple maintaining authorities like wash rooms, shoe storage, water, distributing Prasad ( holy food offering to devotees) etc. A dias for cultural programs arranged inside temple premises next to Banyan tree. I visited Akklkot temple in Nov 2019 and had one night stay at Yatri bhuwan as well as had Prasad in the sansthan facility. So I went to Akkalkot Bhakta niwas, Yatri niwas and Yatri bhuvan too to see rooms, tariff, cleanliness and added photos to this post. I am also preparing video so that you can get real picture of all facilities which are VERY GOOD. The temple named as the Vatavruksh Mandir, houses an ancient Banyan tree, where the saint used to preach his followers. The holy tree attracts devotees attention. You will see total of five temples in temple premises. Belongings of Maharaj have been preserved and displayed here for darshan of his devotees. The temple is one of the most important pilgrimage center of Maharashtra & Karnataka. You must visit it once.
