The Top Turkey Capitals in the US

Not all turkeys in the U.S. will end up on the dinner table this Thanksgiving. According to Trulia, your best chance of running across a turkey (one that’s not being served up as a main dish) is in Roger Mills County, Okla. In honor of Thanksgiving, online residential real estate site Trulia took a break from looking at where people live so it could check out where wild turkeys reside. Using data from the annual North American Breeding Bird Survey, Trulia found that you could encounter up to 29 wild turkeys in just 2.5 hours of walking around Roger Mills County. And if you’re in Kansas this Thanksgiving, you’re truly in the turkey capital of the U.S., statistically speaking. “Among states, Kansas teems with more turkeys than any place else,” Trulia said. Trulia also revealed these fun wild turkey findings: • Turkey counties . Counties in Oklahoma and Kansas dominate the top turkey counties in the U.S., securing eight of the top 10 spots. • Turkey states . Turkeys seem to thrive in states located in America’s heartland, including Kansas, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Missouri. Connecticut is the only coastal state included in the top 10 list. • It’s not just talk. It seems that self-proclaimed turkey-happy places like Berryville, Ark. (“turkey capital of Arkansas”) and Barron, Wis. (“turkey capital of Wisconsin”) are more than just talk. “Self-proclaimed ‘turkey towns’ are in or near areas that have populations of wild turkeys,” Trulia said. Click An...

What Is The Capital Of Turkey?

Turkey is a country that is l The capital of Turkey is Ankara. The History of Ankara Formerly known as Angora due to the many Angora cats, rabbits and goats, Ankara became the capital in 1923, replacing Istanbul after the Ottomans Empire came to an end. The city was identified as a potential capital in 1920 though it had been in existence since 20 BCE with the first structures made of Roman and Ottoman architecture still visible. Other ancient residences belonged to the Hattic people who lived there between 2000 and 1700 BCE. Tremendous growth was witnessed from 1000 BCE under the rule of the Phrygians. In 278 BCE, the city was ruled by the Celtic. In the 4th century, Christianity became widespread, though in the year 654 the Arabs invaded it and introduced Islam. During the First World War, the Ottomans were defeated, with European countries scrambling for the country. This prompted the Turkish Nationalist Movement to establish an opposition base in Ankara from where it fought the British colonialists. The Republic of Turkey eventually gained independence in October 1923 and Ankara became the official capital city replacing Istanbul. Demographics of the Capital City of Turkey At its initial years, Ankara was well planned to accommodate a population of 500,000 because by then the population was below 100,000 occupants. Nevertheless, rural-urban migration made the population shoot, making planning and expansion impossible. The current population of the city including the ou...
