Valmiki Ashram Temple, Kanpur

The place is located at the entrance of Bithoor. Visited in July, Were greeted by pujari of the temple who informed the significance of the Temple. Place where Maa sita gave birth to Luv and Kush and Panchmukhi Hanuman where Hanumanji was made captive by Luv and Kush. Exit from the temple and go to the valmiki ashram where sage Valmiki wrote the Epic Ramayana and where Maa site had her kitchen - Sita Rasoi, and well from where the water was drawn. Nearby is the Sitakund where she went back to mother earth. A deepmala constructed during the period of Peshwa during Exile is also there. The place was quite and clean. Overall a journey which one should take in his lifetime. Overall time spent - 30 mins This was the place where RATNAKAR(A THIEF) turned to VALMIKI maharshi, author of RAMAYANA.This was the place where VANDEVI(SEETHA) given birth to her children LUV & KUSH.This was the place where LUV&KUSH brought up.This place is recognised by ASI.We found very few number of visitors though it's got a real place in the history of RAMAYANA,I think because of not giving any publicity by the UP tourism.One can found a 'well' used by maharshi VALMIKI and the shivling placed by the same.This place is situated along the banks of river GANGA.Around 18Km from Kanpur is this place near BITHOOR,one can easily find the route to this place in the google maps.(type destination as BALMIKI ASHRAM). Sri Rama Tirtha Sarovara

Sri Rama Tirtha Sarovara It’s a very important site of the great sage Valmiki ashram is in Amritsar. Valmiki wrote Ramayana here. Mother Sita spent her period of exile at this place in Valmiki ashram, after Rama banished Sita, His wife and eternal consort, during His afterwards earthly pastimes. Pregnant and by itself, Sita sought shelter at the ashram of Valmiki, where she shortly offered birth to Lava and Kusha, sons of Lord Ramacandra as of this ashram. Lava and Kusha spent their childhood here at Valmiki ashram. During Ashvamedha Yajna by Lord Ramacandra, Lava and Kush captured a challenge horse. The combat between Lord Ramacandra’s forces and Lava and Kusha took place at Rama-tirtha-sarovara. Lava and Kusha tied Hanuman to a tree near to today’s Durgiana Temple. At a distance of 22 km from Kanpur Central, Valmiki Ashram is a sacred place located in Bithoor near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Situated on a hillock, it is one of the best religious places to visit while part of Situated on the banks of the Ganga, the Valmiki Ashram is believed to be the site where Maharishi Valmiki has stayed and written the timeless epic, Ramayana. It is also the place where Sita stayed during her exile and gave birth to her twins Lav and Kush.
