SA20: Will Jacks perfectly imitates Virat Kohli’s ‘famous T20 World Cup six off Haris Rauf'

English cricketer Batting first, Jacks and Kusal Mendis gave a flying start to the Capitals at the Newlands stadium in Cape Town with an opening stand of 88 runs in just 7 overs. On the last delivery of the fourth over, the 24-year-old batter stood tall like Virat against Archer to a back of a length with a horizontal bat and smashed it right over the pacer’s head just like Kohli had done in the T20 World Cup. Will Jacks smashed fifty from just 19 balls against Archer, Rabada, Sam Curran. What a knock, What a player. Will Jacks is fire.🔥. The Capitals opener smashed fifty in just 19 balls while smashing quality pacers like Jofra, Kagiso Rabada and Sam Curran before he got out to Odean Smith scoring a blistering 62 off 27 balls. His innings consisted of five fours and five sixes. Due to his innings, Pretoria managed to score 182 for the loss of 8 wickets whereas Jofra Archer and Rashid Khan shared three wickets each and Odean Smith took two wickets for MI. Chasing the total, MI were in the ascendancy with 101 runs for 2 wickets in 12.3 overs before they crumbled and lost the last eight wickets for just 29 runs getting bowled out eventually for 130 in 18.1 overs and went on to lose the match by 52 runs. For Capitals, Wayne Parnell and Anrich Nortje shared three wickets each, Adil Rashid took two, while Eathan Bosch and Will Jacks added one wicket each to their bags. Will Jacks keeps Pakistan in check as England dig deep in search of lead

Necessity is the mother of invention on the subcontinent and on a potentially pivotal third day, one on which Babar Azam peeled off a regal century but England hit back impressively late on, nothing summed this up more than Joe Root using the sweaty head of Jack Leach to shine the ball. It was the type of creativity required on such a docile surface and after three sessions of toil from Ben Stokes and his players had been rewarded with an uplifting wickets column. Pakistan reached 499 for seven, still 158 in arrears after England’s record-breaking surge to 657 first up. Read more Will Jacks is another product of necessity. The all-rounder’s call-up for this tour was a result of England’s threadbare spin-bowling resources, while his Test debut here only came about at the 11th hour after Ben Foakes failed to recover from the virus that threatened to delay this series opener. Though the 24-year-old doesn’t appear the type to wish ill on anyone, let alone a Surrey teammate, the upshot was a day he will never forget. Figures of three for 132 from 33 overs may not leap off the page, but in the context of this run-soaked contest his incisions were golden. First was the removal of Abdullah Shafique for 114 with his fourth ball of the morning, the opener edging a cut to Ollie Pope to end a mighty opening stand of 225 runs with Imam-ul-Haq. But come stumps the sensation of claiming a maiden Test wicket had been eclipsed by the dismissal of Babar in a four-wicket evening session that...

Rehan Ahmed, Will Jacks, Moeen Ali among candidates to replace Jack Leach in England's Ashes squad

It's probably the obvious option given how short-notice this injury is, plus the clear concerns over Stokes' knee, which had already left Leach's role looking vulnerable within a four-man attack. Root's attacking offies, habitually delivered from round the wicket with a flat trajectory and an emphasis on overspin, have already claimed 54 wickets in the course of his career, and he's deeply familiar with England's bowling plans, having turned his arm over in all but two of England's 13 Tests since Stokes became captain. His presence would allow England to recall each of James Anderson, Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood without a complete clear-out of the seam attack that did the needful at Lord's. England surely wouldn't be that crazy, would they? Hold my Bazbeer! Rehan doesn't turn 19 until August, when the Ashes will have been and gone, and for all that holding roles aren't really Stokes' thing, the control that Leach offers with his slow left-arm is a distinctly different skill to the magic and madness of red-raw legspin. And yet, there Rehan was in Karachi in December, claiming seven wickets in a fairytale debut, and even emerging as the first official "Nighthawk" in England's gleeful romp to victory. His time will surely come, but once again, the doubts over Stokes rather undermine his credentials. Unless he plays as an allrounder, of course… England's other debutant spinning success of the Pakistan tour. Jacks hadn't expected his call-up until the eternally luckless Ben Fo...
