Republic day is the day when the constitution of India came into effect. Our constitution, that gives us fundamental rights to live lives of our choice and reminds us of our fundamental duties towards our nation. As we all have gathered here today on our 71st Republic day, I would like to remind you that our freedom and our constitution didn’t come easy to us. It was millions who fought for our republic nation and hundreds who actually worked, debated each clause before giving a constitution to our people. The word ‘Republic’ means supreme power. The republic day symbolizes the day when our nation got the supreme power to enjoy the right to elect the representative to lead and run the country. In the republic India, every citizen enjoys equal rights irrespective of status and gender he/she belongs to. We should be proud of our nation and its achievements. This is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to unity and diversity, fraternity and equality amongst all citizens.
