The Like so many California travel destinations, the Bay Area is embraced by what one could call an epicurean trifecta — the Pacific Ocean’s varied seafood offerings, a variety of vineyards and, finally, amazingly fertile farmlands — and it’s also blessed with thoughtful men and women dedicated to making the most of those assets. In fact, a main purpose of many of the festivals you’ll discover in the list below is to showcase and celebrate their talents. The list is arranged by month, and you can easily determine what’s planned during your visit. For each entry on the list, you’ll find the date(s) it’s scheduled to occur, the hosting city, plus a link to a website that provides additional details. At present, the list shows predominantly 2022 festival dates but more 2023 dates will become available after the new year, and we’ll update the list then. When added, 2023 dates are ***noted with a triple asterisk*** to avoid any confusion. Many of these events are held annually and often scheduled to occur around the same time every year, so if a 2022 event looks interesting you may want to click through to see if the organizer’s website now provides the new date. Fall officially starts on Sept. 22, and organizers throughout Alabama have planned a wealth of fairs and festivals to celebrate the season. These events offer everything from folk art to German beer to Renaissance flavor and more. Here are more than 65 fairs and fests that made our must-do list, all happening from mid-September through mid-November. Tickets: $15-$150, depending on the event, register through Sept. 19. “Since 2004, BirdFest has raised more than $100,000 to help preserve and protect vital coastal bird and wildlife habitat and increase the awareness of the great biological diversity of the Alabama Gulf Coast,” according to the Land Trust website.
