Clinical placements aredetermined by a candidate’s undergraduate preparation and teaching experience. Pre-service candidates will pursue a course of study leading to degree conferral and eligibility for Initial New York State certification.Candidates who do not yet have appropriate experience at both the lower and upper grade levels covered by their prospective certification area(s) will be required to fulfill this requirement during this program. This requirement will be fulfilled by completing 20 days of supervised student teaching in each area of certification(s) they are seeking, and do not already have appropriate experience. Qualified applicantsmay participate in courses leading to eligibility for two certifications while pursuing the degree in Adolescence Education, Grades 7–12. Candidates complete the required courses for degree conferral and additional courses specific to the certification area(s) desired. Students meeting criteria are eligible for a scholarship to The University of Akron. In 1988, The Firestone Trust Fund awarded The University of Akron a $3 million gift from which an endowment was established to create The Firestone Fellows Strive Toward Excellence Program, otherwise known as STEP. Students are inducted into STEP while they are enrolled in the sixth grade and are designated as "Firestone Fellows." Adolescence Education Programme About Adolescence Education Programme: The Government of India has taken a decision to upscale the National School AIDS Education Programme (SAEP) and implement the Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) in all secondary and higher secondary schools. The Central Board of Secondary Education is implementing the AEP in all private schools affiliated to it. Adolescence Education is an intervention to impart accurate and adequate knowledge about the process of growing up with a focus on reproductive and sexual health in its biological, psychological and socio-cultural dimensions, emotional health and coping with life skills. Global and Indian experiences have shown that educational interventions focused on life skills development have proven very effective in empowering adolescents to manage their ARSH issues and concerns, including avoidance of risky behaviours. Adolescents (children aged 10–19) are growing up in a transforming world. Technology, migration, climate change and conflict are reshaping society, forcing people across the globe to adapt to unexpected changes in their lives and work. To keep up, Yet, over 250 million adolescents were not in school, even before the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2030, it is estimated that another 825 million children will not acquire the basic secondary-level skills – like transferable, digital and job-specific skills – needed to support lifelong learning and employment. Without access to education opportunities that help develop skills, adolescents face serious challenges thriving in the twenty-first century – with repercussions for generations to come.
