Change is an inevitable part of everyone’s life. No one can escape it. In India, the joint family structure is quickly disintegrating. It is being replaced by the nuclear family model. A nuclear family includes kids, a wife, and a spouse – not sure if this disintegrates even further in future. A friend of mine was telling me that after 50 years, there will be no nuclear families too. There would be only you and me. The most enlightening experience of my life has been being a part of a joint family. After finishing high school there, I began to think about leaving because I occasionally saw family members argue. However, as soon as I moved to Pune, I understood that the area I had left behind was genuinely a haven and could not be replaced.
