For the purpose of e-billing, the property tax department of the AMC has begun the task of preparing a database by collecting relevant information from the residents like their e-mail IDs and mobile numbers, for future correspondence with them. In this regard, the civic body had distributed a form having a unique code alongwith the property tax bills to the residents, asking them to get their e-mail IDs and mobile numbers registered on AMC’s website. Expressing satisfaction over the interest shown by people in this regard, an official of the property tax department said: “We’ve received a good response from the residents. The forms were distributed three months back. Till now, at least 12,500 residents have got the details registered,” he said. After completing this exercise, the civic body will be able to send property tax bills to lakhs of residents at a single mouse click thus doing away with the tedious task of sending bills to every household through the employees of department.
