Watch: Air Force Chief Leads 'Gurukul' Formation In Grand Aero India Start

New Delhi: Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, today led the 'Gurukul' formation during the flypast at the inaugural ceremony of 14th edition of Asia's largest aero show -- Aero India 2023 -- in Karnataka's Bengaluru. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's indigenous fixed wing trainer aircraft flew in the formation, which had seven aircraft run-in from 12 o'clock of the audience at 500 ft above ground level, and flew past over the dais. The Air Chief Marshal led the formation flying a LCA SPT aircraft, flanked by 2xHTTs (Hindustan Turbo Trainers) and 2xliTs (Intermediate Jet Trainers), HAWK-i followed in line astern of LCA SPT and Hindustan-228 trailed the formation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the mega air show, which will display indigenous equipment and technologies to forge partnerships with foreign companies. An F-16 Fighting Falcon duo, one of the United States Air Force's (USAF) leading fighter jets, will conduct daily aerial demonstrations. The F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet, the US Navy's most advanced frontline carrier-based, multirole strike fighter available today, will be on static display. Nearly 809 companies from 98 countries are expected to take part in the event.

Air Marshal AP Singh takes over as Vice Chief of Indian Air Force

The new vice chief of the IAF is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College and the National Defence College. He was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF on December 21,1984. AP Singh is a qualified flying instructor with more than 5,000 hours of flying experience on a variety of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. During his career, Singh commanded an operational fighter squadron and a frontline air base. As a test pilot, he led the MiG-29 Upgrade Project Management Team in Moscow, Russia. He was also the Project Director (Flight Test) at the National Flight Test Centre and looked after the flight testing of the Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas).

Pacific Air Forces Follow Aero India 23 with Air Force Training Exercise in India > U.S. Indo

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii -- Airmen from the U.S. are participating in the exercise Cope India 2023--or CI23-- with the Indian Air Force, April 10-21, 2023. The exercise will take place across Indian Air Force stations in Panagarh and Kalaikunda in West Bengal as well as Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Exercise CI23 is a long-standing Pacific Air Forces-sponsored Field Training Exercise that builds on existing capabilities, aircrew tactics and force employment. “We are grateful for the opportunity to return for this year’s exercise and continue strengthening these key relationships,” said Col. IAF Chief leads from the front as Aero India 2023 gets off to a spectacular start

MURALI KUMAR The much-awaited Aero India 2023 got off to a spectacular start with the Chief of Indian Air (IAF) V.R. Chaudhri leading the display with a Gurukul formation during the inaugural flypast. Air Chief Marshal Chaudhri who is also a Cat ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor piloted the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas which was flanked by one Hawk-i aircraft, one Intermediate Jet Trainer (IJT) and one Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40). This was the first time an IAF Chief participated in the inaugural flypast of the Aero India, showcasing the capabilities of the indigenous fighter jet and its export potential. In the recent past, Middle Eastern, South East Asian and some African countries have expressed interest in the LCA. Tiranga formation The flypast began with the Tiranga formation with three Kiran MKII aircraft followed by Dhwaj formation with four Mi 17 helicopters carrying the national flag, the IAF and G-20 flags. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari PVSM AVSM VM ADC was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on 29 Dec 1982. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Flying Instructors’ School and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. The Chief has a rich and varied experience of operational flying, having flown over 3800 hours. During his career, he has held numerous Command and Staff appointments and has been an Air Force Examiner on fighter and trainer aircraft. He is a Cat ‘A’ Qualified Flying Instructor and an Instrument Rating Instructor and Examiner. The Chief has the unique distinction of being an instructor at Defence Services Staff College, Wellington as well as Defence Services Command and Staff College, Zambia. The Air Chief Marshal has commanded a frontline fighter squadron and two important fighter bases. Some of his notable assignments include Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Air Defence), Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel Officers) and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, where he spearheaded several major procurement cases of the IAF. He later was Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief of Western Air Command and Vice Chief of the Air Staff before taking over as Chief of the Air Staff on 30 Sep 21. Air Marshal A.P. Singh to be new Vice Chief of Indian Air Force

Air Marshal A P Singh has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force, officials said on January 30, 2023. He will succeed Air Marshal Sandeep Singh, who will retire from service on January 31, 2023. Air Marshal A P Singh is currently serving as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command. He will take charge as the Vice Chief on Wednesday, the officials said. He was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF on December 21, 1984. Air Marshal A P Singh is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College and National Defence College. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and an Experimental Test Pilot with more than 4,900 hours of service flying on a variety of fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. His operational tenures include being the Flight Commander and Commanding Officer of a MiG 27 squadron and Air Officer Commanding of an air base. As a test pilot, he has served in Aircraft and System Testing Establishment in various ranks and capacities. He also led the MiG 29 Upgrade Project Management Team in Moscow, Russia. He was the Project Director (Flight Test) at National Flight Test Centre looking after the flight testing of Light Combat Aircraft Tejas and Air Defence Commander at the South Western Air Command. Speaking to ANI, Chaudhary said, “We've signed a contract for 83 LCA Mark 1As. We're also in pipeline to get LCA Mark 2s & the AMCA. Apart from that, surface-to-air weapons, MRSAM & new generation Akash will form a big portion of our surface-to-air guided weapon inventory.” “LCA Mark 1A induction will start next year. As per the contract, LCA Mark 2 prototype, after it rolls out, the production should start in 2-3 years. For AMCA, once the prototype rolls out, the production should be able to start in 2-3 years after that,” he added.
