Atlantic City Airshow 2023 date, lineup announced for 20th event

The Among the featured performers at the Aug. 16 event will U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier Demo Team, U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey Air National Guard, organizers said Thursday. The show is called, “A Salute to Those Who Serve.” The Thunderbirds’ return to the Jersey Shore will be highlighted by an appearance from the F-16 Fighting Falcon. A practice day will be held on Aug. 15 before the main event the following day. Organizers said about 400,000 people took in at least part of last year’s show. While viewers can watch for free along the beach in Atlantic City an surrounding towns, a new ticket option is available this year to get spectators closer to the action. Tickets for The Fly Zone are $25 for those 13 and older and $15 for children 6 to 12. Kids 5 and under are free. Prices for the practice day are $5 less. People who buy tickets to the fenced-in “Sky Zone” will have access to portable bathroom as well food/beverage vendors. Spectators in The Fly Zone can bring their own chairs, blankets/towels and umbrellas into this area, though tents and cabanas are not allowed. There will be no chair rentals available. The Raptor performs both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions that are vital to the 21st century Air Force. The F-22, a critical component of the Global Strike Task Force, is designed to rapidly project air dominance at great distances while defeating threats attempting to deny access to our nation’s Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps. The F-22 cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft. The F-22 Demonstration team will be coming from 1st Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langely-Eustis, Virginia and piloted by Captain Samuel “RaZZ” Larson, the Commander of the team. Captain Larson is a 2015 graduate of the US Air Force Academy and has over 750 hours flying the F-22A Raptor.
