The Akkulam Lake lies about 10 km away from the city Thiruvananthapuram. The lake with its scenic backdrop makes it an ideal spot for get-together like picnics and outings. It is also a popular backwater destination for tourists. You can go for an enjoyable boat ride on Akkulam Lake. The breezy air and the ripples on the water will soothe your body and soul. Akkulam Lake is the oldest tourist place in Trivandrum. It is located in the outskirts of Trivandrum city. It has a tourist village nearby with pathways for walking. There is a small children’s park and a swimming pool. Boating is the major attraction. Both pedalling and rowing boats are available. Real asset if maintained properly.. Once a most sought out tourist attraction but now a dumping yard for old boats due to improper care from government authorities 😕 lake is covered with weeds and stinks a lot.. Road leading to this lake is very bad condition. Administration if wants can convert this place into beautiful tourist destination. But lake is neglected. Although huge lake connected to the backwaters. Basic facilities are also missing. although boats of various types pedal,speed,rowing are available. Thiruvananthapuram: Riding on the tremendous response from city residents and monetary returns, Akkulam tourist village is set to have a glass bridge soon. Six months after the opening, about one-and- a-half lakh tourists have visited the tourist village while the income has crossed Rs 1 crore. Theglass bridge will be constructed as part of the second phase of Akkulam adventure tourism project. The initial works have started under the department of tourism. The works of the bridge utilising imported high-quality glass are planned to be completed in two phases. In the first phase, it will stretch to 36 metres and 54ft above the ground. “The bridge will extend to around 80 metres in the second phase, in such a way that visitors can see the Veli beachside and enjoy a beautiful sunset view. The construction which will cost around Rs 75 lakh in the first phase will be completed in compliance with all safety guidelines as per the The current plan has been put into motion after the success of the first phase of the project which was inaugurated in November 2022. Thiruvananthapuram: The Akkulam tourism village will soon have a glass bridge thanks to the overwhelming response from city dwellers and financial gains. About 1.5 lakh people have visited the tourist town six months after it first opened, and revenue has surpassed Rs 1 crore. The construction of the glass bridge is part of the second stage of the Akkulam adventure tourism project. The Department of Tourism has begun the initial works. The works of the bridge utilising imported high-quality glass are planned to be completed in two phases. PWD Minister P A Mohammad Riyas said, "I am happy to inform you that Glass Bridge is coming up for the first time in the state under the Department of Recreation and Tourism. The Glass Bridge is going to start at Akkulam Tourist Village, an adventure tourism center in Thiruvananthapuram district. Its initial operations have already started. '' Along with this, Toy Train Service, Virtual Reality Zone, Pets Park and Mud Race Course will also be introduced in the Adventure Village. Akkulam Tourist Village is jointly managed and maintained by the Thiruvananthapuram district tourism promotion council and the Vattiyoorkavu Youth Brigade Entrepreneurs Co-Operative Society (VYBeCOS).
