The bus, belonging to the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), was believed to be carrying 30 to 32 people, another official said. The bus broke the railing of a bridge on the National Highway No.3 (Agra-Mumbai road), situated close to Dhar and Khargone borders, and then fell into the river, he said. The bus left from MP's Indore city in the morning and was heading to Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, MSRTC officials said. Twelve bodies have been retrieved from the bus, MP Home Department's Additional Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Rajora told PTI. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rushed to the spot, he added. After getting information, Indore Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Pawan Kumar Sharma instructed the Khargone and Dhar collectors to rush to the spot to launch a rescue operation, officials said. In a tragic incident, a bus of MSRTC leaving Indore for Amalner fell down in Narmada river at Dhar bridge at 10 am on Monday while the rescue team fished out bodies of 13 persons, including 4 woman and a child. The search operation for other passengers is going on. It is reported that the bus bearing no: MH 40 N 9848 started from Indore for Amalner in Maharashtra at 7.30 am. When it reached to a bridge at Dhar in between Khalghat and Thigri, the driver lost control on the wheel and straightway the bus fell in Narmada river in spate. Upon on getting information, officials and rescue teams from Khargon and Dhar reached the spot to start the rescue operation. The bus was taken out from the river so that injured persons could be shifted to the nearby hospital. District Collector from Jalgaon and administration are in constant touch with the administration at Khargon and Dhar for rescuing and extending cooperation. Among the 13 bodies found, one passenger Murtja Bora (27), husband of Arva, was from Murtizapur in Akola district. The other passengers were from Jalgaon, Jaipur, Udaypur and Amalner. So far 15 passengers aboard the bus have been safely rescued. The rescue operation is going on continuously at the incident site." PUNE: MSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Shekhar Channe on Monday said the state transport bus, which fell into the Narmada river at Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh resulting in the death of 12 passengers, was moving at a "decent speed of 45kmph" at the time of the accident. Channe cited an initial inquiry by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) officials and told TOI, "All our buses are fitted with a device that provides us a real-time update about the speed at which a bus is moving and other related activities. The bus involved in the accident also had the device. Based on the real-time update with us, we can say it was running at 45kmph." The Lal Pari bus, as most MSRTC buses operating on inter-state routes are referred to, had started from Indore early Monday morning for Amalner in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district. Bus driver Chandrakant Eknath Patil and conductor Prakash Shravan Choudhary were also killed in the accident. Channe said, "It is an unfortunate and a tragic accident. Giving an exact reason for the accident is not possible at this moment. It might be possible that the driver had lost control of the vehicle while trying to save someone on the bridge.
