Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Welfare Society Rajasthan Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Welfare Society was formed to perpetuate the memories of "Bharat Ratna" Baba Sahib Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar who gifted the Indian Constitution to this nation keeping in mind the miserable condition of the down-trodden society and women of this country from the atrocities and excesses committed on them by the so called upper caste Hindus. Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Welfare Society, Rajasthan in an apex body of Scheduled Caste Community of Rajasthan. The institute is situated at Institutional Area Jhalana Doongri, Jaipur. It was established in the year 1980-81 to fulfill the aims and objectives of Dr. Ambedkar's Mission. OBJECTIVES: Our social values lie in the happiness of our citizens and appreciation from our members of our organization. As one of most important driving forces in developing modern society, social organizations have become the backbone of the communities they belong to. To build a happy and harmonious society, it is a worthwhile attempt for us to build a happy organization. Incorporated in the year 2003, Ambedkar welfare and rural development society primarily focus on children and women development, protecting the environment, rural developmental activities, poverty elimination and elevation of minority issues involving child labour and empowerment activities. The Father of the Constitution of India, DR Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as “Babasaheb,” was an educationist, jurist, social reformer, economist and one of the greatest political leaders of India who relentlessly struggled to reform the Indian social structure. He was a man with a vision who was ready to serve the nation from the core of his heart. Throughout his political career, he worked for the welfare of the society, especially for women and the downtrodden class. Early life Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891, in a village near Mahou’s military barracks. He was the son of Shri Ramji Maloji Sakpal, a military officer in the rank of Major Subedar at Mahow, and Bhimabai Sakpal, daughter of Laxman Murbadkar. His family lived in Ambawade (Mandangad taluka) in the Ratnagiri district of modern-day Maharashtra. Ambedkar was born and raised among the Mahar (Dalit) community, who were considered as untouchables. The community was underprivileged and was looked down upon by other communities. Ambedkar renounced Hinduism and embraced Buddhism. He also spearheaded the Dalit Buddhist Movement. His conversion encouraged mass conversion to Buddhism in his Dalit community. Educational Background In 1897 Ambedkar’s family moved to Mumbai. He joined the Elphinstone High School as the only untouchable to attend the school. DAWS focuses on the socio-economic upliftment of women and their welfare with its activities and by creating awareness on women education, vocational training health, safe motherhood, family planning, their rights and social issues related to them. This NGO also, focuses on use of natural resources, prevention of sexual diseases, consumer rights and also programs and activities that help to build common understanding, enhance excellence and enable people to improve their lives.
