AMD Zen 2 specs, price and release date: all about AMD's newest processor tech

Over the last couple years, AMD has been releasing some of the best processors (CPUs) on the market, and it doesn’t look like it plans to slow down any time soon. Back at CES 2019, AMD announced its Zen 2 architecture, cutting the manufacturing process down to 7 nanometers (nm), and offering greater performance and efficiency. Then, at Computex 2019, AMD pulled the veil off of its Ryzen 3rd Generation processors. These chips took advantage of the smaller Zen 2 manufacturing process, bringing a 12-core, 24-thread processor to the mainstream market at less than half the cost of Intel’s 12-core HEDT chip. And, if that wasn’t enough, Microsoft took the stage at its E3 2019 keynote, announcing that the system-on-a-chip powering the next Xbox, Project Scarlett, is using Zen 2 cores and AMD Navi graphics. Zen 2 is indeed on a roll. That’s without mentioning the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Generation that includes the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X that’s coming out very soon. And, even with the next generation Ryzen 4000 that AMD revealed at CES 2020 looming on the horizon, these chips are likely to stay relevant well into the near future. These chips are the first consumer-ready processors based on the 7nm Zen 2 architecture. AMD Zen 2 release date The AMD Ryzen 3rd Generation processors hit the streets on July 7. These chips are the first consumer-ready processors based on the 7nm Zen 2 architecture, and are also the most affordable. And they’ve finally been followed up with Ryzen...

AMD Ryzen 2 vs. Intel Coffee Lake: What's the Best CPU Platform?

Ryzen 2 vs Intel Coffee Lake It's the age-old question that has spurred endless debate: AMD or Intel? Today, that rivalry has reached new heights with AMD's Ryzen 2000 Series, often referred to by users (but not AMD) as "Ryzen 2," competing against Intel's 8th Gen "Coffee Lake" for desktop dominance. To help you decide which processor platform to get, we've put Ryzen 2 and Coffee Lake through a seven-round face-off. Features AMD and Intel fight their biggest battles in the Core i7/Ryzen 7 and Core i5/Ryzen 5 families that comprise the bulk of the PC market. As we can see, prices are generally comparable between the two companies' lineups, with Ryzen 7/Core i7 spanning from $303 to $360, while the Ryzen 5/Core i5 series span from $182 to $260. How to pick the right AMD Ryzen CPU for your PC

Intel and AMD share a similar model-naming scheme. The two main families of processors — Core and Ryzen, respectively — use 3, 5, 7, and 9 to differentiate the CPUs. The lower the number, the less capable the processor usually is. A Ryzen 3 processor won't be able to outpace a Ryzen 7, for example. And just like Intel, AMD keeps everything simple by only using a few model numbers, as well as a suffix or few. Source: Rich Edmonds / Windows Central (Image credit: Future) AMD's Zen architecture brought an array of new processors to consumers in 2017. Here's what you need to know about this line of Ryzen CPUs, as well as what this all meant for the PC market. Even though we're on Zen 3 and 5000 series CPUs from AMD, there's much to learn about the architecture and how the company managed to hit back at Intel. Here's a quick breakdown of the different AMD Ryzen processor brackets: • • • • • Within each bracket, the processors are named by model number — the higher the model number, the more powerful the CPU. For example, a Ryzen 3 1200 is less powerful than a Ryzen 3 1300X and a Ryzen 5 5600X. An X suffix simply means it's a slightly faster version of that model from the factory. So, the Ryzen 7 1800X is stronger than the Ryzen 7 1800. The differences aren't huge and only represent a slight increase in factory-set clock speeds. Those with a G suffix for graphics include Vega video processing, much like most of the Intel CPUs. That means you can run a system without a dedicated ...
