Reaves had 22 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Thursday's 108-103 loss to the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Across 14 appearances this postseason, the second-year wing has averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 35.7 minutes per game while shooting 43.2 percent from deep. Reaves has been the Lakers' only consistent three-point shooter in the playoffs thus far and should continue to handle increased usage while he's playing at a high level. Reaves contributed 23 points (7-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and eight assists over 42 minutes during Tuesday's 132-126 loss to Denver in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Reaves put together another strong performance despite the loss, logging a team-high 42 minutes. It's been quite a ride for Reaves who has seen his stock rise substantially over the past few months. Now a permanent fixture in the starting lineup, Reaves is a viable scoring option and strong secondary playmaker, highlighted by his eight assists. Reaves had 23 points (7-12 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds and six assists across 39 minutes during Friday's 122-101 victory over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Rockets may reportedly go after Austin Reaves in free agency

In a matter of months, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has gone from an undrafted player with potential to a hot commodity. He blossomed in a big way this season, and his production gradually increased as time wore on. He moved into the starting lineup in March and did very well in his first playoff appearance, averaging 16.9 points and 4.6 assists a game while shooting 44.3% from 3-point range. Reaves will be a restricted free agent this summer, and multiple teams are expected to try to pry him away from L.A. One of those teams is the Houston Rockets, Michael Scotto said during a recent HoopsHype podcast. Via “Should Harden not come to Houston, the Rockets are expected to have interest in Lakers restricted free agent Austin Reaves, I’m told.” During that same podcast, Kelly Iko, who covers the Rockets for The Athletic, added this nugget: “Reaves is a guy they like a lot.” Keeping Reaves is reportedly a very high priority for the Lakers this offseason. For them to hold on to him, they will have to be more generous than they have been lately when it comes to paying their own non-star free agents. Follow all your favorite SoCal teams at

2022-23 Season Summary: When Austin Reaves was on the basketball court, the Lakers were a better team. Period. We know the backstory: the hard-working kid from a small town in Arkansas was hardly recruited despite multiple state titles, then went undrafted after four years of college ball. Yet, after a promising rookie year for LAL, he posted a fantastic sophomore season that saw him make huge gains in multiple areas. After elevating himself from a two-way deal into a fully-guaranteed contract as a rookie (7.3 ppg,1.8 apg, 23.2 mpg), Reaves started his second season as the most impactful bench player on the roster, before ultimately earning a starting guard spot in March. His 13.0 ppg, 3.4 apg and 28.8 mpg don’t actually tell the story of his improvement when you consider his even-better playoff production against three very good teams (MEM, GSW, DEN): 16.9 ppg, 4.6 apg, 36.2 mpg with 4.4 rpg. Able to hold up defensively at multiple positions, on offense Reaves showed what the Lakers scouts noticed going back to his freshman year at Wichita State: Austin can carry a heavy load as a primary ballhandler, creating good shots either for himself or for teammates. It’s no stretch to say that, behind stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Reaves was the third-best player on the team for the duration of the 2022-23 campaign. By The Numbers: 1,004: More total minutes played by Reaves in his second season than his first; he played 1,418 in Year 1, and 1,843 (regular season) plus 579 ...
