Rohit Sharma Captain; No Sanju Samson And Shikhar Dhawan: India's Likely Squad For West Indies ODI Series

India will tour the Caribbean islands for a full-fledged series against West Indies in July-August. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the ODI team and will be assisted by Hardik Pandya. The chances of Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan making their comebacks to the ODI team are bleak. Dhawan last played an ODI in 2022. Virat Kohli will bat at number three and might be followed by Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar did bag three back-to-back ducks against Australia in the previous ODI series but he returned to form in IPL and would be keen to make the most out of the opportunities in the absence of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. The right-handed batsman isn't expected to be dropped. Team India's likely squad for West Indies ODI series: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan/Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya (Vice-captain), Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat

West Indies beat Australia West Indies won by 4 wickets (with 72 balls remaining)

9.49 pm Solid chase by the hosts to claim 10 points in World Cup Qualifying on what was a very tricky wicket. Australia only have themselves to blame with some extremely sloppy fielding. Pooran was dropped twice, including the first time on 26 with the score 123 for 5 on a straightforward chance at mid-off into the lap of Moises Henriques. Pooran and Holder parlayed that extra life into a 93-run partnership and the pressure eased on the very next ball which Pooran smoked to the rope to rub salt into the wound. Pooran ends unbeaten. Pooran is named Man of the Match for his eighth ODI half-century: "I want to dedicate this to my wife. This is my first half-century since I got married so this is for her. For me it was just about building a partnership and fighting with Jason. We just had to find a way and fight. I was just backing my strengths and wanted to hit the gaps as hard as possible. I work day in and day out, try a lot of things in the nets just to get better each day. I have goals I want to accomplish and I can only do that by working hard. All the bowlers bowled fantastic today up front. Well done to them. I just felt like we allowed them to get too much runs and we gave them a chance in the game. That's something as a group we won't tolerate. The body language in the field dropped. That's something we don't like." Australia captain Alex Carey: "Obviously it doesn't help when you're 5 for not a lot. Wade and the bowlers did a great job to get us to a total and we we...

Australia beat West Indies Australia won by 164 runs

2.26pm Chase and Joseph briefly frustrated Australia, but the hosts have wrapped up a convincing 164-run victory to go 1-0 up. Cummins and Lyon lead Australia off the field. With Here is Lyon: "Thank you, great way to start [the series]. To come here and do it in Perth...great to be back here. These guys are up there with some of the best players in the world. I was happy with Kraiggy's wicket. He's a superstar batter and I had to be patient with the limited rough out there. When one [Cummins] goes down, the other has to take the workload. Cummins came out and said thanks to me but no... Marnus [Labuschagne] is incredible for Australia and Queensland for a number of years now. He wants us to call him the Baby GOAT but we're not sure about that yet (laughs)." Marnus Labuschange, Player of the Match: This ground is similar to Brisbane. Playing in bouncy wickets there helps. Probably the first innings was my favourite - coming in early and the wicket was nipping around. Yeah, Joseph was bowling nice and fast and it got the beans flowing. Nice to be able to compose myself after that no-ball wicket. Probably have to give it to the batting coach. Steve, Davey and Green, me all have been hitting a lot of balls. Kraigg Brathwaite: Obviously, disappointed with the loss but must commend the batters for the fight. Good fight but we have to sit down as a bowling unit and find out how we're going to get 20 wickets. It was not thinking about survival - just normal batting and still beli...
