Once we were travelling to Delhi and Kaka had this habit of wearing lungis. The way women manhandled him, I told him Kaka it's dangerous for you to move around in a lungi. Women fans were always queuing up outside his makeup room and sets. It used to be crazy. Women kissed his car or even got married to it. Kaka was known for arriving late on sets but I didn't face that problem with him. He was fairly new when he started working with me. Unlike Recently, I met him at a function in Kolkata. I walked on to the stage not knowing he was standing there. I only found out after he bowed a little to welcome me. I was shocked to see him. He didn't seem to be well. I asked him what had happened and he said his haemoglobin count had gone down. I told him he had lost a lot of weight. He insisted he was better and recovering. I have spent time with him on the sets but not much outside. I lived in South Mumbai and they were in the suburbs. But I kept in touch with him. I also met him when he was contesting elections. His constituency was the area where I live in Delhi. He seemed to believe he'd come back: I first worked with him in Baharon Ke Sapne,...
