Avengers In Comics Members, Enemies, Powers

The Norse God Loki was trapped by his father, Odin, after suffering defeat at the hands of his brother, Thor. However, even captivity could not quell Loki’s lust for vengeance, and he remotely used his powers to frame the Hulk for nearly destroying a passenger train. While Loki hoped to engineer a battle between Thor and the Hulk, Hulk’s ally Rick Jones and his friends sent out a distress signal that was answered by Iron Man, Ant-Man, and the Wasp, as well as Thor himself. Hulk battled the heroes to a standstill, but Thor quickly sensed his brother’s hands in these events. Thor left the fight to confront Loki, and he returned to Earth with his brother to proclaim the Hulk’s innocence. Loki’s attempt to break free was thwarted by the assembled heroes. Before they parted ways, Ant-Man suggested that they remain together as a powerful force of good. Iron Man, Thor, and even Hulk readily agreed, while the Wasp named the team “the Avengers.” Some Assembly Required Unlike many Super Hero teams, the Avengers have largely embraced a highly structured dynamic, with a leader/chairperson who charts their collective path in battle and in peace. Almost all of the founding members have taken their turn as the team’s leader, with Captain America, Iron Man, and the Wasp emerging as arguably the Avengers’ most gifted commanders. When necessary, the Avengers have also held court-martials to discipline members who stepped out of line. Not even the founding members were immune, as Hank Pym/An...

'Avengers' Power Rankings: Who's the Strongest in the MCU?

In the years since Tony Stark told the world he was Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a huge cast of heroes with a wide array of abilities. From a genetically enhanced World War II soldier to We rated each hero's ability and value on the battlefield on a scale of 1 to 10 (with some exceptions) using evidence from the 23 interconnected films in the MCU's first three phases, which concluded in 2019 with "Spider-Man: Far From Home." Here's our official power ranking. (Note: This doesn't include details or storylines from the comics.) Pom Klementieff as Mantis. Marvel Studios Abilities: As an empath, Mantis can read the emotions of others while touching them. She can also influence and alter their emotions — "to some extent," in her words. Power scale: 1. Mantis' powers are quite potent. She was able to make Ego, an ancient and powerful Celestial, sleep against his will in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." She was also instrumental in the near-defeat of Thanos in "Infinity War." But neither would have been possible without the help of other characters: In the former case, Drax carried her away from danger and saved her life; in the latter, Doctor Strange put her in place to subdue Thanos. Her skill set is extremely specific and, when it comes to most situations, not very useful. Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon. Marvel Abilities: Thanks to genetic enhancements, Rocket is extremely intelligent and far more durable than a regular raccoon. Power scale: 1. Rock...
