Ayodhya is an ancient city of India, believed to be the birthplace of Rama and setting of the epic Ramayana. It is adjacent to Faizabad city at the south end in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya used to be the capital of the ancient Kosala Kingdom. Owing to the belief as the birthplace of Rama, Ayodhya (Awadh) has been regarded as one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites (Saptapuri) for Hindus. It is believed that the birth spot of Rama was marked by a temple, which was demolished by the orders of the Mughal emperor Babur and a mosque erected in its place. The Ayodhya dispute concerns the activism by the Hindu groups to rebuild a Rama's temple at the site. Ayodhya Ram temple's ground floor to be ready by October

The ground floor of the three-storey Ram temple in Ayodhya is in its final stages and the work on ancillary structures is going on in full swing for their completion by October this year, the temple authorities said on Monday. "The progress ( in construction) of the ground floor of the Ram temple was reviewed recently by senior members of the trust, including chairman of construction committee Nripendra Misra," according to a statement. Engineering teams of Larsen & Toubro and Tata Consulting Engineers and representatives of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust participated in the review of the construction work, it added. The progress of the construction work is monitored on a daily basis by senior functionaries and actual issues are addressed, it added. The committee said that after the completion of the temple foundation, raft and plinth, the placement of Rajasthan's Bansi Paharpur stone on the three-storey temple is in full swing. Apart from the sanctum sanctorum, the temple has five mandaps -- Gudh Mandap, Rang Mandap, Nritya Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap. "The dome size of the five mandaps are 34 feet in width and 32 feet in length and height from the courtyard ranging from 69 feet to 111 feet,” the statement said. Ram temple in Ayodhya awaits for clearance for receiving foreign donations

New Delhi; The temple trust of The trust expects to get clearance from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to start securing foreign funds via NRI accounts from November. NRIs and foreigners wanting to make their contribution to the temple will get an opportunity to do so before its formal inauguration. The trust is collecting more than Rs 1 crore in a month through the contributions of daily pilgrims and individuals settled in various parts of the country. However, the trust has been unable to accept donations from outside the country as it is yet to obtain Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. In-charge of the trust's camp office in Ayodhya, Prakash Kumar Gupta said: "All the formalities have been completed and necessary documentation has been done. We are hopeful of getting clearance from the MHA in November and will start accepting donations from other countries."

The construction of the first floor of the three-storey Ram Temple in Ayodhya is likely to begin by the end of the month and thework on the ground floor is nearing completion, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said on Tuesday. New Delhi/Lucknow The construction of the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is expected to be completed by the end of the year, temple authorities said on Monday, adding that the inauguration of the grand structure may take place in January next year on a date that is yet to be finalised. The trust did not disclose the specific dates to the media. “The trust had committed to the devotees that the ground floor will be completed by December 2023. AYODHYA: Congress leader Mahant Sanjay Das of Hanumangarhi temple, who is the heir to the temple's head priest Mahant Gyan Das, said that the seers welcome Rahul Gandhi to the holy city and offer him a place of residence as the leader recently lost his accommodation following his disqualification from the "Rahul Gandhi must come to Ayodhya and visit Hanumangarhi and offer prayers here. There are many such ashrams on the campus of Hanumangarhi temple. He should come and stay in our ashram, we will be happy," Sanjay Das said.
