Babur is one of the most revered Mughal leaders to have ruled parts of ancient Asia. A military adventurer, soldier of great distinction, poet, as well as politician, Babur's influence would endure well past his death as his magnetic leadership would go on to inspire multiple generations of the Mughal dynasty. Babur, also spelled Babar or Baber, was born Zahir-ud-din Mohammad Babur in Uzbekistan in 1483 CE with the blood of conquerors running through his veins; more specifically, that of the Turkic conqueror Timur (Tamerlane) and Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan. He came from a tribe called the Barlas, which had both Turkish and Mongolian influences, and his father was the ruler of Fergana, a small region in Uzbekistan that had easy access to the Silk Road, and the exchange of goods and ideas. This provided him with close proximity to a wealth of people and knowledge that included Islamic traditions which he and his family adhered to.
