Back in the day, you had options like CBZ and the Even though it might fall on the utilitarian side of things, a modern 125 still needs to meet certain criteria to be acceptable in 2022. So, does it score enough 👍🏽 in enough areas or does the bike get a big 👎🏽 from us? Design - 👍🏽 Premium 125s like the On the other hand, the CT is properly old school in its design, and that’s exactly why we like it - it has a lot more personality going for it compared to its rivals. And with all the rugged bits like the raised fender, beefy crash bar, metal base plate headlight brace and large luggage rack thrown on, it looks even cuter… almost like a little puppy wearing a large spiked collar. Everyday usability - 👍🏽 Basic Specs Engine: 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled Power: 10.9PS @ 8000rpm Torque: 11Nm @ 5500rpm Gearbox: 5-speed At the end of the day, 125s are meant to be everyday bikes, and everyday riding is all about commuting… home to office, office to home, home to the shops and the rest. Even though in terms of basic specs, the CT 125X is pretty much on a par with the rest of the segment, in the city, it’s a delight to ride. Bajaj has given it shorter third, fourth and fifth gears. So while you might not get a great jump off the line in terms of outright acceleration, the in-gear...

Small capacity commuter bikes form the backbone of the Indian two-wheeler market. They are purpose engineered to ferry people, equipment, be your daily milkman, plumber and so much more. For a commuter bike to make it ‘big’, it has to above all be affordable, then also be supremely frugal and of course, be built as reliable a tank. Did I say affordable? In the interests of frugality, commuter bikes usually confine engine capacity between 100cc to 125cc. Bajaj’s CT 125X ranks amongst the most affordable 125cc bikes in India. It undercuts most rivals by nearly Rs 3,000-5,000, but price isn’t the only thing the new Bajaj claims to have going for itself. So does the CT 125X have what it takes to stand apart in this crowded segment? Read on. Bajaj CT 125X design The Bajaj CT 125X is a handsome looking commuter bike, styled similar to its 110cc sibling. Barring its more sophisticated colour scheme and some bits here and there, it’s difficult to tell the two bikes apart. Upon closer inspection, the changes are more apparent. The 125 apart from donning a ‘125X’ badge deploys a blacked out finish on its engine. It does away with ultra slim semi-knobby tyres, making way for slightly meatier, road-biased tyres. The 80/100-17 inch front and 100/90-17 inch rear tyres are both tubeless, making for better longevity and easier repairs. At the front, you see a round headlight with small bikini fairing. There’s a pair of skimpy bars running across the headlight, adding to the rugged stance ...

Bajaj CT 125X Arrives At Dealerships; India Launch Soon

The X hints at a rugged build The upcoming bike adopts styling that is similar to the Bajaj CT110X. It gets a sturdy-looking round headlight with a V-shaped DRL on its cowl. Staying true to its ‘X’ tag, it gets thick crash guards, fork gaiters and a large grab rail, which should double up as a luggage rack. What’s also visible in the video is that the bike will get a single piece seat, USB charger and new graphics. Apart from the black and red colour schemes, it has also been given a new dual-tone glossy black and green shade. The international-spec CT 125 features a 124.5cc, air-cooled engine paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It makes 10PS and 10.5Nm. That said, the India-spec bike might lose some power in order to comply with the BS6 norms. The CT125X gets a telescopic fork along with dual shock absorbers. Braking duties are handled by 130mm drum brakes at the front and rear. Other underpinnings include 17-inch wheels at both ends. Boosting its practicality are a 114kg kerb weight and a 10.5-litre fuel tank. Bajaj could announce the bike’s prices some time next month, and we expect the bike to carry a price tag of about Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom). With that, it would lock horns with the Source •
