Bhopal weather: Showers bring down temperature, respite to continue for 2 days

A similar weather was experienced in many other places in the state. The changed weather was due to the impact of different systems and is likely to continue for the next two days. The temperatures remained below the normal mark. Officials of the meteorological department, Bhopal circle said, there was a western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. A cyclonic circulation was over Punjab and bordering Pakistan and wind discontinuity was between Telangana and south Tamil Nadu. The systems were leading to thunder and rain in parts of state. Day temperature in Bhopal on Friday was recorded at 37.5 degrees celsius, a degree less than normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 23.4 degrees celsius, a degree less than normal mark. The average direction in the city was south easterly while wind speed rose to over 16 km per hour on a few occasions. The day temperature in Khajuraho was 41.6 degrees celsius. In the forecast for Bhopal on Friday, the meteorological officials said, there would be cloudy sky with thunder and light winds during the evening hours. Day and night temperature will be respectively 40 degrees celsius and 24 degrees celsius while wind speed will be 16 kmph. Climate chart - Bhopal The climate of Bhopal is subtropical, slightly tempered by altitude, with a rainy season from June to September or early October, due to the monsoon, and a dry season from mid-October to May. Since the dry season is long, the landscape is semi-arid. The city is the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh and is located in north-central India, just south of the Tropic of Cancer and 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level. In the city there are several bodies of water: three lakes (Upper Lake, Lower Lake and Shahpura Lake), and some artificial reservoirs created by dams. In winter, from mid-November to late February or early March, nights are cool, and sometimes even cold. In January 1991, the temperature dropped to 4 °C (39 °F), and in January 2011, to 2.3 °C (36 °F). Even in these cases, however, during the day the temperature reaches 18/20 °C (64/68 °F). From mid-March to early June, before the monsoon, it is very hot, and in the hottest periods the temperature can reach 45 °C (113 °F). In May 2010 and in May 2016, the temperature reached 46 °C (115 °F), while in early June 2019, it reached 46.7 °C (116 °F).
