Big Octopus (2020) Reviews

This review may contain spoilers It's big! It's tentacled! It's BIG OCTOPUS! Big Octopus was a Chinese attempt at Kaiju. It succeeded in some ways and failed in others. Life for a restaurant owner was turned upside down when he hauled in a strangely cute octopus. Of course, his love interest was a scientist, and she rather ominously told him he must never sell the octopus for any price. It didn't take long for the evil biogenetic mogul to show up offering money. A camouflage wearing commando unit was shown killing off people in a compound and then headed to the restaurant. More dangerous than either gun toting group, was when Big Mama Octopus discovered her baby was with the humans. Somehow the people involved had never learned the number one rule in nature--- never mess with a baby animal because the mama might be nearby. Big Mama Octopus was not having it and tore the joint up as her tentacles rampaged across the beach and restaurant in search of her baby. Fun fact, her tentacles were extra-sensory. With one touch she could tell that a woman was pregnant and left her alone. Motherly courtesy, I guess. Before long, everyone ended up on an island where a WWII bunker was hidden. The Big Bad Businessman's grandfather had run experiments with the Nazis back in the 1940's and Big Mama Octopus was the result. The girlfriend scientist and the hapless restaurateur ended up along for the ride as well as the Killer Commando Unit. Big Mama Octopus sent her infinitely long tentacles ...

Largest Octopus Ever

As recently as the 19th century and into the early 20th century, there was a lot of seafaring lore involving stories of gigantic octopuses. You might be familiar with scary stories about sea monsters such as “the Kraken.” Sometimes these stories commingled giant squids with octopuses. That is understandable since both animals are cephalopods and have similar-looking appendages. The octopus having eight arms and the squid having a total of ten appendages extending from their heads. Tales of Giant Octopuses These old stories would make mention of octopuses as long as whales being caught in various parts of the Pacific ocean. American and Canadian whalers had the most detailed stories as well as Japanese fishermen and whalers. Mariners in the Atlantic and other parts of the world also had tales of giant cephalopods but these were more “fantastic” in nature. They were not as realistic as those from the Pacific. It seemed as if the majority of the most credible giant octopus stories had origins in the Pacific Ocean. Even big octopuses can fit through very small openings! Do Giant Octopuses Really Exist? As with most legends, there is usually a seed of truth to them. In the case of the existence of giant octopuses, yes, they do exist. The It is known to inhabit vast regions of the Pacific ocean — from the west coast of the United States all the way to Japan. This more or less coincides with the places of origin of many of the more credible old stories and legends. How Big Is Big...

Chilling Warning: Vladimir Putin Tells Russian Ex-Pats to 'Stay Away From Our European Nuclear Bomb Targets' A Hawaiian man caught a huge octopus that broke a state record that had stood for more than 20 years. © iStock Stock image: Octopus tentacles. A Hawaii man has caught a record-breaking octopus weighing almost 26 pounds. Michael Matsunaga, from Wahiawa on the island of O'ahu, made the catch on the morning of August 30 in the waters off Turtle Bay, HawaiiNewsNow reported. At the time, Matsunaga was bottom-fishing, a technique that involves the angler dropping the bait all the way down to the bottom of the water column to target fish that live on or near the ground. The 69-year-old had dropped his bait—consisting of fish and squid—down to a depth of around 400 feet when he noticed something on his line. "It felt like it was stuck," Matsunaga told HawaiiNewsNow. Load Error "He has eight legs. I get two arms. I kind of put him in the cooler. But he tried to get out everything. I finally got him in the cooler. And then I had to sit on the cooler because he was kinda of lifting me up," he said. Matsunaga then took the creature to be weighed at Hana Pa'a Fishing Co. with the scale showing a reading of 25.95 pounds—a state record for largest octopus caught. The previous record was held by the 69-year-old's brother, Stewart Matsunaga, who caught a 19-pound octopus off Kaʻena Point, O'ahu, in 2000. In Hawaii, octopus is commonly referred to as "tako"—the Japanese word for the ...
