By Express News Service BHOPAL: A major inferno possibly triggered by an electric short circuit in an air conditioner on Monday afternoon, reportedly gutted entire property on four floors of the multi-storied Satpura Bhawan – one of the buildings housing various government offices in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal. The fire which originated from the third floor of the government building housing the regional office of the tribal welfare department, soon spread to the fourth, fifth, and sixth floors, gutting property (including important government files) in the office of the health department. According to a senior Bhopal Police officer, the fire spread fast from the third floor to the upper floors, as the raging inferno came in contact with air conditioners and some gas cylinders, triggering multiple blasts on multiple floors. However, human casualty or injury was averted, as the building was evacuated in time. With the available fire tenders and fire brigade personnel, falling short before the raging inferno in the building (located close to the state secretariat or Vallabh Bhawan), firefighters and tenders were pressed into service from areas adjoining Bhopal. “Fire brigade vehicles have been pressed into service from all around, including those from Airport and industrial town Mandidip in the adjoining Raisen district. Chairperson promoter, Chairman Operations, Principal and Transport Manager of Billabong School Management have been booked under the sections of POCSO Act and negligence in suppressing the case said Special Investigating Team (SIT) Chief Additional DCP Shrutkirti Somvanshi. The SIT team returned from the school to the Mahila police station after drafting the FIR. While talking The Pioneer, Bhopal Police Commissioner Makrand Deuskar confirmed that the FIR has been registered against four management members. The FIR has been registered against Chairperson Promoter Nazm Jamal, Chairman Operations Faizal Ali, Principal Ashish Aggarwal and Transport Manager Syed Bilal of School Management. The school management tried to suppress the atrocity with the innocent. FIR is also registered under the guidelines of Supreme Court and Transport Department. SIT has found that school management was aware of the fact and had not revealed it with the police, tried to mask it and along with this violation of guidelines for transportation of children in school buses and lack of safety measures issued by Supreme Court were also found due to which Case under section 21 of the POCSO Act and section 188 of the IPC has been registered.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Specially designated (POCSO) court of District and Sessions Court, Bhopal, on Saturday has convicted school bus driver and lady bus attendant in minor rape case with three and half years old minor nursery standard girl in school bus of Billabong High International School, ICSE Board, Bhopal. Parents of two girls came forward in this case. Second girl and her parents were crossed in court under Witness Protection Act, according to District Prosecution officer. Quantum of punishment will be decided on Monday, District Prosecution officials added. Judge Shaileja Gupta passed the order. According to public prosecution, Hanumant Jathav,32, of Shahpura and Urmila Sahu,40, of Kolar, have been convicted. Case was registered against Jathav under 376(ab), 376(2n), 5F/L Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act while case under Section 109 and 16/17 of IPC was registered against Urmila Sahu on September 8,2022.
