BJP casts net for Congress leaders

Express News Service HYDERABAD: Political circles were abuzz with talk of a tit-for-tat game after senior BJP leaders held a clandestine meeting with veteran Congress leaders and extended them an invitation to join the saffron party on Monday. This move is being seen as a response to the recent success of Congress in attracting prominent personalities from the BJP and BRS. Speculation is rife within BJP circles that DK Aruna, the party’s national vice-president, played a key role in extending invitations to former MLCs and other senior Congress leaders, given the growing interest in political circles in the State. One of the potential additions to the BJP is a former MLC who has kept away from active politics since the formation of Telangana. Known for his close association with the former chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, this former MLC is likely to join the BJP in the near future. Additionally, sources have indicated that another former MLA, who has been inactive in the Congress, is also seeking to re-enter politics by joining the BJP. The ongoing “poaching operations” between the two parties have generated considerable curiosity within political circles, particularly among the Congress and BJP, as the two parties vie for an upper hand ahead of the elections. The BJP has successfully enticed several prominent Congress leaders since the 2018 and 2019 elections, while the grand old party intensified its recruitment efforts after its victory in the Karnataka Asse...

MLA poaching case: BJP's Santhosh, Tushar yet to appear before Telangana SIT

A lawyer said to be a relative of Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police probing MLAs' poaching case but BJP General Secretary B.L. Santhosh and two others were yet to respond to the notice served to them. Bhusarapu Srinivas, a lawyer from Karimnagar, reached the Police Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad before 10.30 a.m., the time given by the SIT. Srinivas had allegedly funded the flight expenses for Simhayaji, one of the three accused arrested for the alleged attempt to buy four MLAs of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Also Read: However, Santosh, president of Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) Tushar Vellapally and Jaggu Swami had not appeared for questioning till noon. There was no clarity if they would make themselves available to SIT on Monday to record their statements or will seek more time. On November 19, the Telangana High Court had turned down the request of the BJP state unit to stay the notice issued to Santhosh. Justice B. Viajaysen Reddy, however, made it clear that Santhosh should not be arrested since the SIT had already issued notice to him under Section 41A of Criminal Procedure Code. The judge observed that Santhosh should not apprehend his arrest and asked him to comply with the conditions imposed in the SIT notice. The same day, the court heard an application filed by the Telangana government seeking instruction to Delhi Police commissioner to cooperate w...

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], November 19 (ANI): BJP National General Secretary BL Santosh has been summoned by Telangana Police in connection with the alleged attempts of the BJP to poach MLAs from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Santosh has been summoned by the Telangana government-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate alleged attempts by BJP to poach TRS legislators. The SIT led by the Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand and supervised by a judge reports to the High Court. The Cyberabad Police had on October 26 arrested three persons- Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy at a farmhouse in Ranga Reddy on charges that they attempted to poach some TRS MLAs to the BJP. Earlier on November 6, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Etela Rajender accused the KCR government of trying to “finish the Opposition” by “purchasing” their legislators. Celebration on CBI handover of poachgate has exposed BJP: KTR

In a statement, Rama Rao wondered why the BJP leaders were celebrating when the High Court handed over the BRS MLAs poaching case to the CBI. He alleged that the celebrations of the BJP leaders have “thoroughly exposed the thieves”. Though the BJP leaders distanced themselves from the poaching case earlier, they are now celebrating and carrying the accused on their shoulders, Rama Rao alleged. He asked whether the accused were ready for narco analysis and polygraph (lie detector) tests besides a CBI probe? Rama Rao said that the BJP had already lost its credibility in society after its attempts to poach BRS leaders.Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy should answer why he termed the High Court’s decision to hand over the case to the CBI as the ‘victory of BJP’, Rama Rao said. He asked Kishan why the BJP leaders had obstructed the progress of investigation into the poaching case. Rama Rao also found fault with Kishan for stating that if the CBI investigated the case, the accused would get a clean chit. The BJP even surpassed the Congress records in misusing the Central investigation age-ncies, the minister alleged. Stating that the BJP tried to poach MLAs from BRS as it has no base in the State, Rama Rao alleged that like in other States, the saffron party also tried to pull down the BRS government in Telangana with ‘Operation Lotus’, which was successfully thwarted.“The accused cannot escape the ‘peoples’ court’,” he said. For KCR, On Poaching Of MLAs By BJP, A Setback In Court

Hyderabad: In a big setback for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his BRS party, the Telangana High Court today transferred the 'poachgate' case -- involving four MLAs of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi and some individuals accused of being linked to the BJP -- to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The High Court also disbanded the state-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was investigating the politically sensitive case. The SIT has said it will challenge the High Court order. "Our argument was that the SIT cannot carry out an impartial inquiry,'' BJP leader and Advocate NRamachander Rao said, while welcoming the judgement."The Chief Minister said he had access to all the tapes recorded as part of a sting operation. He held a press conference and made the announcement. In such a circumstance, we felt the probe by SIT cannot be impartial," he added. Five petitions were filed asking for a CBI probe. Three by the accused, one by the BJP, and a fifth by a lawyer. The BJP petition was struck down on technical grounds, Mr Rao informed. "This is a very important order of the High Court. We welcome it,'' Mr Rao added. This comes two months after a farm house in Telangana's Moinabad was raided and the Cyberabad police claimed to have unearthed a conspiracy to topple the ruling BRS government by 'buying' four MLAs for Rs 100 crore each. Tandur MLA Rohith Reddy, one of those who claimed to have been offered money to switch sides, today said there is ...

‘Why is BJP celebrating HC verdict in MLAs poaching case?’: KTR slams union minister Kishan Reddy

KTR said, “When the accused Swamijis were caught openly, you said you had no connection with them, and now when the case is transferred to the CBI, you are celebrating it. Is it because the case is now with your puppet agency?” The minister asked if they (BJP) have no connection with the accused, why they moved the court multiple times and interfered in the investigation. “You are now publicly claiming that the BJP will get a clean chit as the case is with CBI. This only proves how the central investigation agencies are compromised in the ruling of the BJP,” said KTR. à°’à°•à°ªàñà°ªàñà°áàñà°¸à°¿à°¬à°¿à°à°•à°¿à°•àñ‡à°¸àñà°‡à°¸àñà°äàñ‡à°èà°¿à°‚à°æà°¿à°äàñà°²àñà°à°ïà°ªà°áàñ‡à°ªà°°à°¿à°¸àñà°åà°¿à°äà°¿à°èàñà°‚à°áిఇవàñà°µà°¾à°³à°¸à°¿à°¬à°¿à°à°•à°¿à°•àñ‡à°¸àñà°…à°ªàñà°ªà°œàñÆà°ªàñà°äàñ‡à°®àñ€à°°àñà°¸à°‚బరాలàñà°šàñ‡à°¸àñà°•àñà°‚à°Ÿàñà°èàñà°èారàñà°…à°‚à°Ÿàñ‡à°èàñ‡à°Æసంసàñà°åà°èàñà°®àñ€à°¹à°ïాంలàñ‹à°Žà°‚à°äà°èàñ€à°°àñà°—ారàñà°šà°¾à°°àñ‹à°…à°°àñà°åమవàñà°äàñà°‚à°æà°¿ à°•àñÆà°®àñÆరాలసాకàñà°·à°¿à°—à°¾, à°äàñÆలంగాà°ãà°ªàñà°°à°àñà°äàñà°µà°¾à°èàñà°èà°¿à°•àñ‚à°²à°æàñ‹à°ïà°áà°¾à°èà°¿à°•à°¿à°ªàñà°°à°ïà°äàñà°èà°¿à°‚à°šà°¿à°…à°áàñà°áà°‚à°—à°¾à°æàñŠà°°à°¿à°•à°¿à°èà°æàñŠà°‚à°—à°²àñà°®àñ€à°°àñ. — KTR (@KTRTRS) ALSO READ: “Earlier, people used to call the CBI ‘Congress Bureau of Investigation’, but now people are calling it ‘Central BJP Investigation’,” he said. Mamata Banerjee: Such 'poaching' not designed to strengthen Oppn unity, serves BJP: Congress slams TMC after WB MLA crosses over

Synopsis The Congress lost its lone MLA in the state assembly, Bayron Biswas, as he crossed over to the ruling TMC on Monday, joining the party in the presence of its general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. In a sharp attack on the TMC, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, "Three months after he was elected as a Congress MLA in a historic victory, Bayron Biswas has been lured away by the TMC in West Bengal." "Such poaching which has happened earlier in Goa, Meghalaya, Tripura and other states is not designed to strengthen Opposition unity and only serves the BJP's objectives," he said. The crossing over of the Congress' MLA to TMC and Ramesh's remarks slamming the Mamata Banrjee-led party assumes significance as these come at a time when efforts are on to forge Opposition unity to take on the BJP in the 2024 general election.

‘Number 2 will meet them’: TRS shares phone call, says it’s proof of BJP poaching MLAs

A day after the police booked three men for allegedly trying to bribe a few Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislators to switch over to the BJP, the TRS has shared two audio clips of a phone call conversation purportedly between MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy and the accused Nanda Kumar and Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma. Sharing the audio conversation, the TRS wrote, “This is just a trailer … Going forward, we will reveal more of BJP’s dirty politics.” The first audio conversation mentions someone named Santhosh and someone referred to as Number 2. The second conversation mentions Home Minister Amit Shah. The political drama intensified in Telangana after the Cyberabad police raided a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the night of Wednesday, October 26, where they said they found the three accused, allegedly associated with the BJP, trying to poach four TRS MLAs. The MLAs were allegedly offered Rs 50 crore to 100 crore each, apart from important positions and contracts, in exchange for switching parties.
