MADURAI: The Addressing reporters, Riyali said that all the important places of the district will be provided with BSNL 4G network. The telecommunication provider is also planning to provide 4G connectivity in 28 villages in Madurai, six villages in Theni and one village in Dindigul. The scheme will be executed under the central government’s Atma Nirbhar scheme in the next 500 days, he said. It will also provide 4G commercial service to Kodaikanal under its regional scheme. Madurai circle that covers Madurai, Theni and Dindigul districts has 2.87 lakh prepaid connections, 6,900 postpaid connections, 26,186 landlines and 20,000 Bharat Fiber (FTTH) connections. The advisory committee members urged the BSNL to rectify its network issues, especially in the Melur region. There was a protest in front of Melur BSNL office recently over this problem. Madurai MP Su Venkatesan promised that he will take up the BSNL issue and the negligence of the centre on its national provider in the parliament. Taking to Twitter later, the MP has said that BSNL has been reduced to having only 12 crore mobile phone connections out of the 117 crore mobile phone users in the country.
