Byju’s launches offline tuition centres to supplement online learning

Chennai: Edtech enterprise Byju's has launched Byju’s Tuition Centre — a network of offline tuition centres that combine the offline and online learning experiences. The company told TOI it is investing around $200 million in this new segment over the next 18-24 months. These will operate as tech-enabled physical tuition centres for students in classes 4-10 and will focus on better engagement and outcomes for students through a two teacher model (one present in-person and other virtual). The teacher-student personal connect will be supported by digital analytics-led assessment of progress and performance. The model is expected to help bridge learning gaps for students. Byju's will be launching 500 centres across 200 cities in 2022 and is bullish on the outcomes of such a physical network going by the feedback from the first 80 centres it launched as pilots. In the next few days, the company is targeting to launch new centers across Mumbai, Chennai, Surat, and Lucknow. With this, eight Byju’s tuition centres will be operational in Chennai. “Byju’s Tuition Centre combines the best of technology, teachers and formats for an impactful learning experience for students and addresses the needs of a large segment of parents and students who want a physical element in addition to online teaching support,” Mrinal Mohit, chief operating officer, Byju’s, said.
