CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Emergency officials say two people were killed in a crash that completely shut down part of a road in southeast Charlotte Monday afternoon. The crash happened on Randolph Road in the Cotswold area of Charlotte, around 2:39 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded in reference to a crash involving two vehicles. Mecklenburg EMS says two people were pronounced dead in the crash. Christopher Hargrett, 37, and Eric Adams, 56, were identified as the victims. Hargrett was driving a 2002 Acura MDX with Adams as the passenger as they were traveling in the right lane inbound on Randolph Road before veering to the left, passing through the left lane over the cement median and into oncoming traffic before crashing head-on with a 2001 International 4000 truck. The crash happened on Randolph Road in the Cotswold area of Charlotte, around 2:39 p.m. Edwin Martinez, 37, was driving the truck with passenger Jose Avalos, 37. Both were wearing seatbelts and suffered no injuries. When the Acura crashed, it spun 90 degrees, causing both Hargrett and Adams to be ejected from the vehicle. They were both not wearing seatbelts.
