Nagpur: The Bhagwan Shri Chakradhar Swami Chair, that will help propagate the thoughts of the saint and ‘Mahanubhav Panth’ that he founded, was inaugurated by vice-chancellor of Nagpur University SP Kane at Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Amravati Road, on Wednesday. Pro vice-chancellor Vinayak Deshpande was the guest of honour while Lata Lanjewar, an eminent teacher and expert on the swami’s ‘Mahanubhav Pantha’, was the chief guest. Pro-VC of Mumbai University Ravindra Kulkarni, head of the organizing committee Pramod Munghate and NU registrar Neeraj Khaty shared the dais. The Chair is a research centre-cum-bank of books and study material of everything pertaining to Chakradhar swami’s life and works. The centre will be open to those who want to study and conduct research on the works of the saint. Kane said setting up of the centre was possible due to government grants and assistance extended by former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. “This place is not only for students of Marathi literature but it is open to all. Anyone, regardless of any background and students from inter-disciplinary faculties are welcome,” he said. In his welcome address, Munghate said, “The centre will prove beneficial to those who want to study about the swami and his work on preserving Marathi language and culture.” Munghate attributed the legacy of Marathi to the swami and stated that it was because of his efforts that Marathi is not an extinct language today. Nashik, Aug 30 (PTI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced that efforts will be made for all-round development of Riddhipur, where ‘Leela Charitra’, the biography of Chakradhar Swami, the guru of the Mahanubhav sect, was written, and also hailed his teachings. He made the announcement while addressing a three-day national meet of the Mahanubhav sect organized to mark the eighth birth centenary of their guru Bhagwan Shri Chakradhar Swami, a revered Hindu saint and philosopher. The conference began here on Monday. “Bhagwan Shri Chakradhar Swami advocated equality among all religions, and through the Mahanubhav sect gave the message of unity of people of all castes and religions. Thoughts of the Mahanubhav sect are progressive in nature and they will take the nation forward. Leela Charitra, the biography of Chakradhar Swami, was written in Riddhipur and efforts will be made for development of the place (in Amravati district),” Fadnavis said.
