You may celebrate Rangoli Chandel's Twitter exit. But don't malign Dalits by calling her Chandal

By Guru Prakash: After Twitter India suspended the account of actress Kangana Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel subsequent to her post on the Moradabad incident, the usual upper caste and upper-class social media celebrities were seen celebrating her exit by attributing her surname Chandel with Chandal. The likes of Rana Ayyub, Atul Khatri and Poonam Joshi compared Chandel with Chandal in a desperate attempt to villainise the whole community that comes under the scheduled caste category. The labour bureau of the government Using the name of this community to malign an individual is completely unacceptable and I am surprised to notice the studied silence of the so-called 'left-liberal' brigade who claim to be the saviours of the disadvantaged and the dispossessed. Denial of caste is the greatest hypocrisy of Urban India "No, I don’t believe in caste." "Caste is a thing of past." "Caste is a regressive institution." "Please do not talk about caste." "I do not even know my caste." "My grandmother used to allow the Dalits to enter our homes." This list goes on and on. While the urban elite continues to deny the existence of caste, caste-related atrocities remain a permanent fixture in daily news and caste-based eligibility criteria in matrimonial sections of newspapers. If your grandparents allowed Dalits to enter their home, the question to be asked is if it was a favour to be bestowed upon the community? Denial of caste and casteism is a privileged standpoint and never in my l...

Chandel Rajput

Shri Rajput Karni Sena / श्री राजपूत करणी सेना (SRKS) is a Rajput caste organisation founded in 2006. It is based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The association favours "national unity" and is opposed to caste-centric positive discrimination and "corruption". Rajput Princely States - A princely state, also called native or Indian state, was a sovereign monarchy under a local or regional ruler Rājpūt, Chandel.—An important clan of Rājpūts, of which a small number reside in the northern Districts of Saugor, Damoh and Jubbulpore, and also in Chhattīsgarh. The name is derived by Mr. Crooke from the Sanskrit chandra, the moon. The Chandel are not included in the thirty-six royal races, and are supposed to have been a section of one of the indigenous tribes which rose to power. Mr. V.A. Smith states that the Chandels, like several other dynasties, first came into history early in the ninth century, when Nannuka Chandel about A.D. 831 overthrew a Parihār chieftain and became lord of the southern parts of Jejākabhukti or Bundelkhand. Their chief towns were Mahoba and Kālanjar in Bundelkhand, and they gradually advanced northwards till the Jumna became the frontier between their dominions and those of Kanauj. They fought with the Gūjar-Parihār kings of Kanauj and the Kālachuris of Chedi, who had their capital at Tewar in Jubbulpore, and joined in resisting the incursions of the Muhammadans. In A.D. 1182 Parmāl, the Chandel king, was defeated by Prithwi Rāja, the [ Mr. Smith derives t...
