By Manjeet Sehgal: The two men accused in the Chandigarh University leaked videos case were allegedly blackmailing the arrested woman student to share videos of other hostellers, sources said. Accused Sunny Mehta and his friend Rankaj Verma had allegedly threatened to make the woman student’s private videos viral unless she filmed and shared videos of hostel inmates in the common washroom. Here are the top developments in the Chandigarh University leaked videos row: • Massive protests broke out on the Chandigarh University campus post-midnight on Saturday, after students alleged that “private” and “objectionable” videos of several women hostel inmates were leaked on the internet. • The students alleged that videos of nearly 60 girls taking baths in the hostel were leaked. On the other hand, the varsity issued a statement that one video was circulated. Moreover, it was captured and circulated by the accused. Chandigarh University Offers Support To 700 Indian Students Facing Deportation From Canada

Chandigarh University (CU) chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu announced that Chandigarh University will offer every kind of help to the 700 Indian students who have fallen prey to fake college admission offer letters by fraudulent consultants if they are deported from Canada. Sandhu said this during the varsity’s annual convocation that was held on Friday at the campus premises. “Our government is working closely with their counterparts in Canada to resolve the issue which we are hopeful will happen soon,” he said while talking to the media. Left in the lurch, 700-odd Indian students, mostly from Punjab, are facing deportation from Canada after the authorities in the country found their admission offer letters to be fake. Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “The university will provide every possible help to these students if they are deported. We will give them admission and enrol them in the same batches. Their credit score mapping will be carried out properly so that the credits earned by them in their previous institutions are not wasted. Bridge courses will also be offered to them if any gap is found during the credit score mapping. Chandigarh University student dies, 2 cousins hurt in Kharar hit

Tribune News Service Mohali, June 9 A Chandigarh University student was killed while her two cousins were seriously injured when a speeding car mowed them down on the Kharar-Chandigarh highway, near City Heart shopping complex, in Kharar last night. Deceased Ritika, 22, a native of Raipur Rani near Naraingarh, was a second-year student of MCA, while her cousins Mehak (16) and Manvi (14) from Sadhora, near Yamunanagar, had come to meet her during their summer vacations. Around 10.30 pm, the three were crossing the road near the Dushera ground when an unidentified car driver hit them and fled the scene. Pardeep Bakshi, a local resident, rushed the two injured girls to a local hospital after stopping a passing ambulance. Ritika, who suffered serious injuries, was taken in another car to the PGI, where she died during treatment today. The police said the deceased suffered head injuries, while the other two got fractures in the legs. The victim’s parents reached the hospital late last night.
