Play Chess Against The Computer I wanted to play a quick game of chess online against the computer. I didn't want to install anything on my computer and I didn't want to install the Flash plugin. There are plenty places to play chess against a human opponent, but a simple chess playing computer didn't seem to exist. So I created it. Chess.net was already taken, since the computer plays so quickly I called it quickchess.net. This page uses modern HTML5 and Javascript to provide a full chess game in your browser. Since the latest technologies are used you'll need a browser released in the last few years. The latest versions of Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox will work. If you have an older version of Internet Explorer prior to version 9 Playing the game is very simple. The game starts with the chess board initialized and ready to play. You always play the white pieces and have the first move. Moves are very simple, just drag the piece to the square where you want to move. If the move is legal the computer will make its move. Continue playing this way until one of you wins! There are a few options in the menus at the top. New Game - Start a new game. Difficulty - Set the difficulty of the computer opponent from easiest to hardest. Undo Move - Take back a move that you accidently made.
