COVID-19 update: India logged 228 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases declined to 2,503, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday (January 6). The COVID-19 case tally was recorded at around 4.46 crore (4,46,79,547). The death toll stands at 5,30,714, with four deaths. Two deaths were reconciled by Kerala while one death each was reported from Bihar and Uttarakhand in last 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated. The daily positivity was recorded at 0.11 per cent while the weekly positivity was pegged at 0.12 per cent. Active cases: The active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80 per cent, the ministry said. A decrease of 51 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,41,46,330, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 per cent. Vaccine data: According to the ministry's website, 220.12 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. As of June 13, India has recorded 80 fresh COVID-19 infections, while the number of active cases decreased further to 2,248, according to Union Health Ministry data. With the fresh infections, the country's caseload climbed to 4.49 crores (4,49,92,960). The death toll remained unchanged at 5,31,892, the data updated at 8 a.m. stated. By Milan Sharma: India has registered 10,158 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours and the daily positivity rate has reached 4.42%. The numbers are the highest in nearly eight months. However, experts have said the surge in cases does not resemble a fresh wave and looks like an endemic cycle. The number of active cases has increased to 44,998, the data updated on Thursday showed. Experts said the cases may keep rising for the next 10-12 days, but after that, they will subside. They said even though the cases are increasing, hospitalisation is low and is expected to remain low. The current rise in Covid cases is being driven by XBB.1.16, which is a sub-variant of Omicron, they added. India has recorded over 10,158 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the active infections surged to nearly 50,000-mark, according to the Union health ministry updated on Thursday. This represents a massive 30 per cent jump in the number of daily Covid cases. On Wednesday too, the country saw a significant jump in Covid cases with 7,830 cases recorded while on Tuesday, a total of 5,676 cases were reported. According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country. On Wednesday, official sources said that Covid in India is moving towards the endemic stage, so the cases may keep rising for the next 10-12 days after which they will subside. The sources said even though the cases are increasing, hospitalisation is low and expected to remain low, PTI reported. NEW DELHI: India logged 174 new coronavirus cases, pushing the tally to 4.49 crore, while the active cases decreased to 3,193, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday. The death toll rose to 5,31,882 with two more fatalities, which includes one reconciled by Kerala, data updated at 8 am by the ministry stated. The active cases comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry's website. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,56,681. The case fatality rate was 1.18 per cent.
