While Anahit Pandole and her husband Darius survived the crash, Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir Pandole were killed in the accident. “The accident occurred on the bridge over the Surya river, killing Mistry and another person on the spot while two others have been shifted to Gujarat for further treatment,” said Palghar district superintendent of police, Balasaheb Patil. Earlier today, Maharashtra Police said that airbags, in the front seat of the vehicle, were deployed due to a collision. Cyrus Mistry and Darius's brother Jahangir were sitting in the back seat. As per the Mercedes manual, a minimum of seven airbags are provided in the Mercedes GLC 220D. The visuals from the accident site showed that the airbags installed for rear passengers, where Mistry and Jahangir were seated, did not deploy. Cyrus Mistry's airbags didn't deploy after crash. Cyrus and Jahangir were in car's rear seat. By Mustafa Shaikh: Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Maharashtra’s Palghar SP Balasaheb Patil said, "Investigations are on. On the basis of preliminary technical reports, we can say that the car being driven was above the speed limit. The speed of the car must have been around 100 kmph. It was 89 kmph when it crashed. We are working with the authorities to improve the condition of the road." In a meeting held on Monday, SP Patil met officials of the National Highways Authority (NHAI), the Highway Maintenance Contractor, and the Public Works Department. In the meeting, it was decided that ambulances should be available at four different places on the highway so that the injured can be rushed to the hospitals for treatment. "In order to avoid accidents in the said accident-prone area, we have suggested putting up notice boards, stopping of unauthorised road-cutting, putting up of rumbler strips to reduce the speed of vehicles, new cat eyes, new delineators and blinkers, filling up of potholes on the highway to help motorists to predict the road. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been ordered to complete the tasks within three weeks," Patil said. Former Tata Group chairman Cyrus Pallonji Mistry passed away in a tragic car accident on Sunday. Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when his Mercedes crashed into a divider near Charoti. The accident took place after the driver lost control. Besides Mistry, former KPMG’s Global Strategy Group director Jehangir Dinshaw Pandole also lost his life in the car crash. As the director at the London office of KPMG’s Global Strategy Group, he led the development and roll-out of growth platform proposition, drove revenues by creation of sales and delivery and training collateral. Apart from Jehangir, Dr Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were also present inside the car at the time of the accident. Dr Anahita Pandole is a gynaecologist at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and was driving the car. Darius Pandole, on the other hand, is the CEO and MD at JM Financial Private Equity from 2016. Since Anahita and Darius were sitting in the front seats, they were both wearing seatbelts. Both Anahita and Darius got injured in the accident and were taken to a nearby hospital in Kasa. Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was appointed as the sixth chairman of Tata Group in 2012. He was removed from the position in 2016 after long and protracted legal battle with the Tatas.
