University of Detroit Mercy, in collaboration with University of Saint Joseph in Hartford, Conn., offers a special academic program that enables highly qualified applicants to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Saint Joseph in addition to the Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from University of Detroit Mercy in six calendar years, rather than in the traditional eight years. The selected students in the 6-Year BA Chem to PharmD Program spend the first three years at the Detroit Mercy McNichols Campus in chemistry/pre-pharmacy studies in the College of Engineering & Science. The last three calendar years are in the School of Pharmacy at University of Saint Joseph in Hartford, Conn. In addition to the basic science courses required of all pharmacy school applicants, 6-year program students must meet all of the requirements of the University Core Curriculum. This includes coursework in speech, English, mathematics, religious studies, philosophy, history and culture, ethics, and social responsibility.
