The Union ministry of health and family welfare has rejected the new site proposed by the Bihar government for establishing Bihar’s second All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga district terming the plot as “unsuitable” and requested the state government to provide an alternative land for the project. By Aditya Vaibhav: Bihar has decided to construct a 2,100-bed hospital in Darbhanga using its own resources as the dispute over the proposed AIIMS in the district escalated. The decision received formal approval from the cabinet this evening, and the new infrastructure will be incorporated into the existing Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital. In the same cabinet meeting, over Rs 2,500 crore was allocated for the new infrastructure. Apart from the 2,100 beds, the proposed hospital will also include a new college campus and residential accommodation.
