DSE Telangana has officially announced that the Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami) Holidays will take place from 26 Sept to 9 Oct 2023 for all the Government and Private Schools in Telangana Dussehra 2023 holidays in Telangana In Telangana, the government usually declares a few days of public holidays for the festival of Dasara. The duration of the holidays may vary from year to year depending on the lunar calendar and other factors. However, the government generally declares a minimum of ten or fifteen days of public holidays for the Dasara festival. According to the academic calendar for the year 2023-23 which was released by the school education department, 14 days have been given for Dasara holidays for all the Government and Private Schools, from Sep 26 to Oct 9, 2023, which is few days more than the last year. Vijayadashami is the last day of the 10-day Dussehra festival and the day after the nine-day Navratri festival. The murtis of Goddess Durga are immersed on the day. Dussehra 2023 date is October 23/October 24. Vijayadashami 2023 is observed as Vidyarambham in Kerala (October 24) and it marks the end of Mysore Dasara. The festival commemorates the installment of the deity Lord Raghunath in the Kullu valley. To devotees, the festival also symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. The celebrations are massive, with thousands of tourists from around the globe. Music, food, dancing, troupe performances, and colorful attire make up the fascinating aura of the Dussehra. In 1972, Kullu Dussehra was recognized as an international event. History of International: Dussehra Kullu Valley, also known as ‘Kulanthapitha’ (Valley of Gods), is renowned for its annual grand Dussehra celebration, attracting thousands of tourists worldwide. The Kullu Dussehra festival dates back to the 16th century to the legend of King Jagat Singh of Kullu, who installed an idol of Raghunath on his throne as an act of repentance. Historians indicate that Lord Raghunath’s idol was brought to Kullu from Ayodhya in 1651, during the king’s rule.
