Amid Covid concerns, Kanpur health officials to start Communicable Disease Campaign from April 1

In an attempt to divert a sharp increase in cases of Covid-19 and other viral infections in Kanpur, district health officials will start a Communicable Disease campaign from April 1. Generating public awareness about various diseases will be the top focus of this campaign which will also see health officials taking preventive action in areas where there's a risk of increased infections. Teams comprising of Kanpur health officials and the Panchayat Raj department will work together to make sure that the communicable disease campaign proves to be effective enough in nipping any potential outbreaks in the bud. Furthermore, doubling down on the potential rise in cases of infectious diseases in the city, the communicable disease campaign in Kanpur will be followed by a 'Dastak Abhiyan'. The latter will be a 14-day campaign in which Anganwadi and Asha workers will go door-to-door, raising awareness around vector borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria.

Yogi launches special communicable disease control campaign in Gorakhpur

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched the statewide special communicable disease control campaign and Dastak Abhiyan at a programme organised at Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur on Friday. (HT PHOTO) The special communicable disease control drive will run from July 1 to 31 and the Dastak Abhiyan will be organised from July 16 to 31. While Uttar Pradesh has been able to check 95% of encephalitis deaths, efforts are on to control the remaining 5% fatalities to eradicate the disease, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said. The chief minister also said the special communicable disease control and dastak campaign was very effective in the fight against Japanese encephalitis and the acute encephalitis syndrome. The state government runs such campaigns every three months. Five years ago, July used to bring a spate of deaths due to encephalitis in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Yogi said. A large number of patients used to be admitted to BRD Medical College, leading to the collapse of the whole system and health services, he added. Health Minister launches Dastak Abhiyan in State

Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Tulsiram Silavat on Monday launched the Dastak Abhiyan to be run across the State till July 20, at the Community Health Centre Misrod. Minister Silavat gave a Dastak kits to the Dastak teams and sent them off to the villages. He said that the Dastak Abhiyan should be taken up as a challenge if children have to be freed from malnutrition and diseases. A target has been set to contact 75 lakh children up to five years in every house in every village. When the Dastak team visits houses, they must provide sufficient information regarding the health of the children to the family members. They should examine the children. They should identify malnourished and sick children and ensure arrangement for their treatment. Silavat said that the Health Commissioner has been asked to inform him about daily progress of work of the Dastak teams across the state. Silavat said that during the campaign to be run in the state till July 20, he will himself visit any village in any district to review the Dastak teams work without prior notice. He said that ASHA, ANM and health workers are the basic staff of the Health Department. The campaign includes more than 60,000 ASHA workers and more than 15,000 ANMs. The campaign includes teams of Women-Child Development and Panchayat and Rural Development Department. Dastak Abhiyan launched in city; to continue till Aug 18

The ‘Dastak Abhiyan’– aimed to detect diseases in early childhood – was launched at the state-run JP Hospital on Monday. The campaign will continue till August 18. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said that by providing health and nutrition services to children below 5 years, the expected mortality rate in children can be brought down. He said that the mortality rate can be reduced to 22 per cent by breastfeeding children less than six months of age and by providing nutritious food to children. Giving Vitamin A supplements can reduce child mortality by 20 per cent, malnutrition by 45 per cent and anemia control by 20 per cent, he added. Under this campaign, a joint team of Health Department, Women and Child Development, ANM, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will visit families with children up to 5 years to identify the disease often found in children. Dastak Abhiyan aims at community level proactive identification of major childhood diseases in children below 5 years of age to bring desired reduction in child mortality. Notably, an intensive diarrheal disease control campaign is also set to be organised by IDCF. This will be held from July 19 to August 18 along with the activities of Dastak Abhiyan. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to launch ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ today to ensure 100% enrolment

NEW DELHI: Eying 100 percent enrolment in primary and upper primary schools, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will kick-start the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ today in the state. “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji Maharaj will inaugurate the first phase of 'School Chalo Abhiyan-2023' and 'Communicable Disease Control Campaign' in Lucknow today,” the CMO tweeted. The chief minister will inaugurate the campaign at Lok Bhavan and the event will be broadcast live on social media. An official spokesperson said that the campaign is organized with an aim of 100% enrolment and said: “No child should be deprived of education”. Every year 'School Chalo Abhiyan' is being conducted in all the districts and it has helped in improving the exam results, the official statement read.
