Delivery Man: Episodes 7

7 March 24, 2023 March 24, 2023 Delivery Man: Episodes 7-8 by Our ghost and taxi driver duo continues slowly unraveling the mystery that ties them together. A new ghost client provides some useful information that points them in the right direction, but the more they learn, the more questions they have. EPISODES 7-8 We get a lot more information this week about our protagonists’ situation, but they’re still in the dark about most of it. I’m not a huge fan of giving the audience a lot more info than the characters in a mystery since it removes a lot of the tension having the characters be a step behind. I think I’d feel much more invested if we discovered clues alongside Ji-hyun and Young-min, rather than constantly waiting for them to catch up. As it stands, our duo does get a few pieces of info to point them in the right direction in their investigation. First off, Kyu-jin and So-ri both recognize the photo of Ji-hyun and recall she was a cop who died of cardiac arrest after an accident. Kyu-jin acts a little shifty – what’s new? – and seems to know more, but that’s all we get out of him for now. The detectives on the case aren’t much more helpful, underplaying the connection between Young-min’s mom and Ji-hyun and calling their meeting on the day they died a coincidence. That leaves Young-min and Ji-hyun on their own to track down clues. Young-min meets with the PI Ji-hyun remembers, but that’s a bust. We see in flashback, though, that he met with Ji-hyun’s father who kn...

Delivery Man: Episodes 9

A young taxi driver finds himself with the ghost of a young woman in his car... and then a business proposition to offer rides to ghosts instead of humans. Together, the two partner up for this unlikely business model, transporting ghosts, granting their last wishes — and taking care of a pesky murderer on the loose. 6 March 31, 2023 March 31, 2023 Delivery Man: Episodes 9-10 by All that unofficial investigating finally pays off for our leads when they make some startling discoveries about the murders that tie everything together. But since murderers don’t like when people start to close in on their crimes, our taxi driver’s persistent attempts to uncover the truth lands him in danger. Meanwhile, our amnesiac ghost grows concerned when she finds herself a little less substantial than usual… well, for a ghost. EPISODES 9-10 Things go from bad to worse for Young-min after discovering that serial killer photo wall at Jung-woo’s. Nurse Hee-yeon spots him lurking in Jung-woo’s apartment and calls the police who immediately arrest Young-min. As soon as Young-min is taken in, Hee-yeon (who didn’t look the least bit bothered by the dead woman on the floor) calls Kyu-jin to report. Young-min is convinced it will be fine because he’s innocent – and we all know that the police never charge the wrong person – but Ji-hyun and his taxi driving colleagues are understandably worried. I love how supportive the taxi drivers are of each other; they jump right in, offering to petition for his...

Delivery Man: Episodes 3

12 March 11, 2023 March 10, 2023 Delivery Man: Episodes 3-4 by Our taxi driver and ghost sidekick try to get their business up and running, although they run into a few challenges. But they also learn some key information about our amnesiac ghost and her unique situation that lead them one step closer toward figuring out who she is and why she’s still here. EPISODES 3-4 We open the week by tying up some loose ends from Byung-cheol’s situation, namely his fake mom and her partner in con. They show up and violently demand Byung-cheol’s wife hand over the bank accounts that his real mom left. Byung-cheol somehow becomes momentarily corporeal enough to break the lock on the door so that Young-min can hold the couple off until the police arrive. Afterward, Byung-cheol conveys his final words to his wife through Young-min and passes on to the other side. I have some serious questions about what ghosts can and can’t do in this universe. Ji-hyun can teleport short distances, but Byung-cheol can’t. Somehow the ghosts can sit on seats, yet they can’t touch anything. Except when they become corporeal enough to smash locks. Or the times where Young-min is able to touch Ji-hyun. With that level of consistency, I’m just going to leave logic at the door and go along for the ride. After successfully helping Byung-cheol, Young-min starts coming around to the idea of a ghost taxi for resolving unfinished business. It might not be lucrative, but it is rewarding. Young-min’s newfound connecti...
