Dicyclomine Oral Solution

What is this medication? DICYCLOMINE (dye SYE kloe meen) treats irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It works by relaxing the muscles of your stomach and bowel, which reduces cramping. It belongs to a group of medications called antispasmodics. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Bentyl What should I tell my care team before I take this medication? They need to know if you have any of these conditions: • Difficulty passing urine • Esophagus problems or heartburn • Glaucoma • Heart disease, or previous heart attack • Myasthenia gravis • Prostate trouble • Stomach infection, or obstruction • Ulcerative colitis • An unusual or allergic reaction to dicyclomine, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives • Pregnant or trying to get pregnant • Breast-feeding How should I use this medication? Take this medication by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Shake well before using. Use a specially marked spoon or container to measure your medication, Ask your pharmacist if you do not have one. Household spoons are not accurate. It is best to take this medication on an empty stomach, 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. Take your medication at regular intervals. Do not take your medication more often than directed.
